Navigator to Freedom staff

Recommended Posts

Hi, Everyone,

I'm hoping recent cruisers might have more info on this than I do.

I know Ken Rush (CD) and Cindy (Loyalty Ambassador), and I've read Francois (Concierge) are moving over from the Navigator to the Freedom.

I've been on the NOS twice and absolutely LOVE that ship and will be going on the FOS on June 25th.

Does anyone know of any other definite changes or pretty definite changes of staff going from Navigator to Freedom? I'm veryyyyyyyyyyyyy anxious to find out if any other favorite people of ours are going to be on the Freedom.

By the way, Tj, if you're reading this, I sure wish you and Captain Bang could be on the Freedom ... even as cruises vacationing <g>. We'd LOVE to see you both again.

Lynn from South Florida

I can't remember his name but the Manager at the Windjammer on the Explorer told us that he will be moving to Freedom. I know that he's not from the Navigator but I thought I'd share anyways.

Francoise himself told me he would be going to the Freedom. Cindy was not sure if she wanted to go back in Sept. when I spoke with her several times. She liked the NOS's eastern/western itinerary better than FOS's same itinerary every week, but she did say RCI was pushing pretty hard for her to go. Chief purser, Michelle McGregor, on NOS told me she would be going to Freedom. She and Francoise both indicated they were going to be setting up their areas of responsibility on FOS either mid-Feb. or very early March. Must be a lot to do! Also, there will be 2 concierge lounges on FOS.

I've been in touch with someone from the Radiance who is moving over to the Freedom. Initially, he was coming back from vacation early March and going back on Radiance until April. Now he is going directly to Findland when his vacation ends. Sounds like they are really committed to getting that ship ready to sail across the Atlantic in May!

Can hardly wait!

I know my 3 favorite abr waiters from the Voyager are also switching over. Seems like RCI is "cherry picking" the best from each ship.

The best room attendant I ever had on RCI was on the Navigator in

July 2003-Cherry (hi Cherry, if you're out there, what ah gwan gal??) She took care of the D1's and D2's on the 7th floor-she is the best-

I would love to run into her on the Freedom on June 18!!:D

We loved our waiter and assistant, Noel and Varkey! Noel has been on the Navigator for several years, and I believe 2005 was Varkey's first year. They were FABULOUS! I sure would like to know if they're going to the Freedom. IF anyone know about either/both of them, I sure would like to hear.

The anticipation is sooooooooooooo exciting.

Since there will be two concierge lounges on the FOS, will there be different concierges in each one? Will people be assigned to a specific lounge or can both be used? The lounge on the NOS was VERY crowded much of the time in the evening.

The Loyalty Ambassador last week on the NOS was Colleen.

This is a little off topic, but I thought some of you with "friends" on the ships would be interested...

RCI is shaking up the shipboard crews. In the past, the crew could request to return to the same ship time and time again. Now, under the new policy, the maximum number of times a crew member can return to the same ship is 3 contracts. I'm sure there are exceptions to this rule but in general, crew will be moved every 2 contracts on average.

Huum..that may back fire...I can see where they are coming from...And it lets everyone get a chance on some of the "nicer" ships..But it also seems like it may cause some "lack of loyalty" to any one ship...

I mean we love the staff on Rhapsody, and have seen many friends over the years...And they love working on the her,and sailing with us WONderful Texans..

Might not be the same dedication as before!

One lounge will be for Diamond members, the other for suites passengers...

That sounds like a good idea to have it split that way! Will a different staff member be responsible then for each of the lounges and the passengers assigned to it? Will the same amenities be offered in each lounge?

Each lounge will have a single staff member managing it. My guess is that the amenities will be the same.

Last year we were on the Navigator and 2 of our favorite bartenders expressed an interest in going on the Freedom. Yo Adrian from Boleros and Ali at Two Poets. Has anyone heard if they got the new assignments? They are alot of fun.

Oh pooh, that means I'll be extra busy trying to keep the Current Captains thread, well, current.

Thanks Weez. I have never met a bartender that is so much fun to be around all the time. He's constantly making people laugh.

Was on the Navigator 18th February Adrian is now in the Wine Bar and he told us that he is going to the Freedom. That is if it is the same Adrian from Goa.

The Adrienne I am talking about was the main bartender at Bolero's, he's philipino. He's one of the very few people that never rotate. He told me he has been the bartender at Bolero's since it opened on the NOS. The only time he moves is when he's opening a new ship or training others.

Where will the second concierge lounge be located? I haven't seen it on any of the deck plans. I do know that when there have been a large number of diamond members on other RCI ships, they have opened a satellite lounge in the Hollywood Odyssey, or other function room up on the Viking Crown lounge deck. Will this be a similar arrangement on the Freedom? If so, I hope that the Diamond members get the room with outside views.( but can't you just imagine the complaints if they segregate the two lounges and people decide that one is preferable to the other?) If there is a shortcoming about the Concierge lounges on Voyager class ships, it is the fact that they are interior rooms with no views of the ocean. My favorite is the one on the Enchantment which is not only a lounge with seaviews, but is also considerably larger than those on Radiance class ships.

Bandit,

For what it's worth, Ali wasn't on staff last week at Two Poets. Spent almost all week there!

It looks like the Concierge Club is on Deck 10 on the Freedom, near the back elevators, no windows. The one on the Jewel had great views. On Deck 5 there is a Connoisseur Club right outside Pharaoh's Palace, but do not see anything else marked Concierge Club.

Is the general plan to move more experienced staff over to Freedom in order to help the ship to begin sailing smoothly? How long will the training process be?

Can't remember name and one of the girls from the kids staff. I was flipping thrugh channels on tv and say that it was her last day

Sounds Cunard-ish; Queen's Grill, blah, blah, etc...

Graham won't get Freedom, the honor is going to Ken Rush who I understand is already in Finland. Maybe when the Rush moves to Freedom's sister ship, Graham will inherit FOS.

Hi there,

Just a quick update from the Navigator, and always good to give you feedback from the "Horses Mouth" as it were

All things going great here and nice to back within such a great team / ship.

Want to add, while some think its a honor to open a ship, I have never wanted or have any desire to open one, and in my career have been penciled in by management twice to do it

I would much rather have a ship once its already in service, as for me that is when you can really make it your own with a team and truly play with it.

Ken Rush is a great CD and perfect for new builds.

Must go.... tummy is requesting food

Be well and see some of you soon

Graham

Weez, I hope you see Adrian in April. If you think about, tell him Sandy and Little Dave say "hello" and we'll see him 6/4.

Badger, sorry you didn't get to meet Ali at Two Poets. He was always doing bar tricks for us and had us in stiches.

Does anyone know who the captain of FOS will be? RCI knows, so why won't they tell? I suppose it's too much to hope that Captain Bang would take the FOS helm. Of all of our cruises, he still ranks number one with me. TJ, where are you?

We have booked the FOS for Aug. 27, 2006.
