@roger b Hi Roger,

In this older post from July, you mention that taxis are in short supply at the port? Is that still the case? I am hoping to spend the day at Balneario Illetas (per your suggestion) and I would prefer to take a taxi to the beach and back to the port. We are on Symphony of the Seas in early June.

Hi this was only during and after covid ,now there are plenty and you should have no problem and the beach club is better than ever a perfect place to spend the  day.

Roger....

What would you recommend for our group of 6 to 8 based on the following....

We would prefer to do something possibly nearer the port.

We have done the Drach Caves.  We have done Valdemossa. We have done the Nadal Academy.

Some of us have mobility issues (no wheelchairs, etc just don't need 100 stairs or steep hills to climb).

Maybe somewhere with a nice lunch?  Some shopping?  History? Architecture?

We had to walk 3+ miles last time to get the rental car so no rental car this time!!!!

Need something with a taxi from the ship or a tour guide that picks us up at the ship, etc.

Thanks so much!!!

No....we have always gone "out and about".

Hi,

Since you arrive at mid day you are limited as to what you can do , the train to Soller is out of the question.

Personally my suggestion is to take the shuttle into to Palma it will drop you opposite the cathedral ,this would be my first stop it truly lovely .

you now in the old town and there are various other historical sites to see ( Almudaina Palace and the Arab baths.)

 https://www.patrimonionacional.es/visita/palacio-real-de-la-almudaina

https://www.seemallorca.com/sights/religious/banys-arabs-arab-baths

Time for Tapas !! the best you will have to book !!!

you will be in the centre of all the best shops and you can spend time exploring around this area.

all of this is easy walking and you are near the shuttle back to the ship.

adding this there might be something else that takes your fancy.

Visting on RCL Symphony in August with 4 kids- ages 9-16. We are only in port 8am to 4pm. Considering a beach day or the train to Soller- Thinking the train would be super crowded and not much fun for the kids (although that would be MY choice for the day). Opinions?

Have read all of the posts in this thread and had some questions about the Beach Club at Illetes: Saw that you can book a lounger at the beach club- would we need to book one for all 6 of us or could we just book one for my husband and I (my kids won't sit there). Are the loungers in a specific place where they won't let you in if you don't have a reservation or could our kids come and go? If we don't book a lounger, are there other options to rent an umbrella? (I can't sit in the sun for more than an hour or so). Finally, what time does the beach usually become "crowded"?

Thank you!

Hi, Both are possible it's your choice ,My best plan and cheapest:

The Train:

Get the shuttle from the ship into Palma as soon as you can it will drop you off  by the cathedral , walk to the bus station around 20 mins in the Plaza Espana ( see google maps).

Bus to Port de Soller spend an hour there then get the tram to Soller, have lunch and get the 2.00 pm train back to Palma.

It should not be too crowded as most people will leave Soller later. Book your tickets online.

The Beach:

Could be crowded, but you have the choice of 2 other small coves next to the Ballinerio Illetas, Both have facilities and beds you only need two, and the boys can sit on towels. also, get the shuttle into Palma the bus is only a short walk from where you are dropped off.  Get the Number 4 bus

Come back to me if you have any other Questions?

Visiting Mallorca 6/19 on a RCL cruise.  We have arranged a private catamaran sailing for the day but need to get to the meeting point which is a Burger King near the Santa Ponsa area.  I Googled the address and it appears to be about a 15 minute drive from the cruise port to the meeting point.  The catamaran company offered to arrange a car service but is charging 100 euros each way which seems very expensive for a 15 minute drive.  I am inclined to get my own taxi service, but are they readily available at the cruise port to take us there?  Is it easy to find one to get us back to the cruise? There will be 4 people in our party so also not sure if they typically have larger taxis.  Any help you can provide is greatly appreciated!

No Problem you will easily get a taxi at the port will take 4 passengers  should be around 25/30 each way.

We are looking to go to Belneario Illetas.  Do we need to make reservations in advance for the sunbeds or could we just purchase them when we get there?

Hi , you can't book sunbeds arrive early and you will get one easier in the week as it gets very crowded in high summer on weekends.

There are three beaches in illetas so you will find beds on one of them  ,if you are going to have lunch definitely book you can do it on line .

If you look back A bit you will see the description of your options.

That's good to know.  I was thinking maybe we should grab lunch outside of the beach club but so much more convenient if we just eat there.   Now that you are saying how much you enjoy it I'm glad I made the reservations.  We will be there Monday May 8th.

@roger b We are thinking of doing 'Driveando' E-Car tour in Palma. Meeting place is McDonald's in front of Porto Pi Shopping Mall. Google maps tell me that this is a nine minute walk from Cruise Terminal. Does this sound about right to you. Thanks in advance.
