Hammergirl Posted October 8, 2019 #1 Share Posted October 8, 2019 (edited) We decided we wanted to rent a car for Saturday at the Airport and return it Sunday at Port Everglades before we leave for our cruise. All places I am checking say there are no cars available. Not a single car for rent? How can that be? Edited to add - I would only do a car rental with the big companies and it looks like there are rental cars with companies I have never head of, but I am not willing to risk that. JohninDC Posted October 8, 2019 #2 Share Posted October 8, 2019 Try a rental returning to FLL - from there you are a $10+ Uber to PE.

Hammergirl Posted October 8, 2019 Author #4 Share Posted October 8, 2019 Thanks guys - I will see if my husband is interested in doing this. We may just scrap the idea and do Lyft.

Unless you have lots of running around to do (family in the area?) or need a van because of a large family/group, using Uber or Lyft is usually easier and cheaper.

We actually just wanted it because were going to try and hit up the Hard Rock Casino for the evening but if it is going to be to much hassle, we will just skip it and do all of our gambling on the ship, or take lyft for that too. torpeedo Posted October 9, 2019 #7 Share Posted October 9, 2019 If you're going on your cruise Super Bowl Sunday, that might be the reason for no cars. I believe it's Feb1 and 2, 2019. Lyft and Uber might be hard to find also.

Then it is pretty strange not to have cars available??! Uber sounds like a good plan though. No car to drop off on sailing day is a plus! Have a wonderful time!! bilyclub Posted October 10, 2019 #10 Share Posted October 10, 2019 Renting a car from one of the big agencies Port Everglades location is usually cheaper because they are trying to move the cars to airport locations.
minikiss Posted October 11, 2019 #11 Share Posted October 11, 2019 what the problem may be is the offices don't open in Port everglades for the times you have entered. We will be wanting to rent a car after getting off the Equinox next year. Disembark on a Sunday. There are only a few offices in the area and have limited opening hours. We plan on getting a taxi or a end of cruise excursion that ends at the airport. From there the offices are open I think 24 hours a day and will give us a much wider choice of companies to pick from. hope you find a solution that works for you. usd2bmd Posted October 12, 2019 #12 Share Posted October 12, 2019 Are there rental offices at the Port? We just cruised from there and I don't think there are rental car offices at the Port. We rented at the airport and returned it there and then just took an Uber.
Corby114 Posted October 20, 2019 #13 Share Posted October 20, 2019 There are no rental car agencies directly at Port Everglades. There are a few off site locations that are very close to Port Everglades. The Hollywood/ Fort Lauderdale International Airport Rental Car Center is open twenty four hours, seven days a week. They don’t provide any free shuttle service from Port Everglades. A cab should be fifteen dollars plus tip for the short fifteen minute ride to FLL. slidergirl Posted October 20, 2019 #14 Share Posted October 20, 2019 AS others have said, no direct sites at port. What I've been doing lately is looking at hotwire.com for rentals. I've used it successfully in San Juan, Los Angeles, and twice in Orlando. The rentals have been through Sixt (nice setup at MCO), Thrifty and Enterprise. I check hotwire prices vs agency websites directly. I've had good pricing. I once did the "managers choice" and ended up at Six with the same car I have at home (a nice Kia Sportage). Check it out for pricing from FLL...
