cbowls30 Posted December 16, 2019 #1 Share Posted December 16, 2019 Hi first cruise out of australia for us. Numerous cruises on carnival from USA and we usually prebook bottled water for our room. It seems we are unable to do this for Australia, can only prebook wine and beer by calling the carnival number. I can't seem to find out if we can carry on bottled water when we board? Has anybody done that? thanks
RosieCanberra Posted December 16, 2019 #2 Share Posted December 16, 2019 No bottled water to be brought on. You can have twelve cans of soft drink, or flavoured water, though.
Rare OzKiwiJJ Posted December 17, 2019 #3 Share Posted December 17, 2019 Take a water filter jug on with you. The Brita Marella 2.4 litre jug is on special at Woolworths for $23 and the Navelia 2.3 litre just is $17.50. We took one on a 35 night cruise and it was brilliant. https://www.woolworths.com.au/shop/search/products?searchTerm=brita Just take a couple of empty water bottles in your luggage if you want something to carry around the ship. BTW the jugs don't fit under the bathroom tap. You can fill them using a glass but we discovered a useful Oxo Good Grips 1 cup silicone jug that worked really well and squishes into the 2.4l filter jug for transport. I bought it in Myer in Brisbane but can't find it in the Myer online store.

Do those Carnival cruisers slip a bit of gin or vodka into the Aldi spring water? 😮 Edited December 17, 2019 by NSWP

Screening of your cans also.. Some people have spoiled it for others... Can still get it on-board through Mouthwash, Shampoo & conditioner bottles.... Cruzbear24 Posted December 18, 2019 #6 Share Posted December 18, 2019 Is this just Carnival or ALL ships out of OPT? Going on Ovation in March and was going to take on about 6 bottles to get us started. Did it with no problems about 2 yrs ago. Have rules changed? Royal has a more sensible rule and allows bottled water to be carried aboard. I find it ridiculous that, especially in these times of drought in Australia, that passengers are forced to empty any water they may be carrying into a bin ( actually multiple bins) and then this water is dumped into a drain. Unopened bottles are taken and go who knows where. The plastic bottles, once emptied, most of which have a ten cent refund on them, are also dumped. Surely with just a little effort and in an attempt to save a little face, the " offending" cruiselines could (a) ensure the water collected is used somewhere, even if only onto a garden and ( b) get the refund for the bottles and donate ( even match and donate) the money to the farmers. NInety nine point nine percent of people bringing water on board are genuine and surely the small number of pax " smuggling" alcohol on board would affect not their bottom line to any degree. Norwegian is another line that has this rule, it also extends to cans, and I have seen back to back guests who have purchased water on board, gone off the ship for the day but not opened the bottle but have been forced to surrender it when returning to the ship. RIDICULOUS imho. Edited December 18, 2019 by gbenjo
