Charles4515 Posted December 20, 2019 #1 Share Posted December 20, 2019 (edited) Please don’t be one of the tourists taking sand, shells and sea glass from Bermuda beaches. http://mobile.royalgazette.com/news/article/20191220/tourists-stealing-tonnes-of-pink-sand&template=mobileart Edited December 20, 2019 by Charles4515
marci22 Posted December 26, 2019 #2 Share Posted December 26, 2019 I don't do it anymore but I have done in the distant past. Who knew. I do find it problematic that pink sand and sea glass items are sold in tourist shops. If you want people to view something as a protected resource, everyone has to protect it.
CILCIANRQTS Posted December 27, 2019 #3 Share Posted December 27, 2019 Would you have everyone “pinky swear” that they won’t take sand, shells or sea glass?? This is a bit of a tempest in a teapot...

This is a bit of a tempest in a teapot... It's not a tempest in a teapot to the government of Bermuda. Please have some respect for the laws of the countries you visit. latebloomer56 Posted January 8, 2020 #5 Share Posted January 8, 2020 Our tour guide gave everybody on the bus a small bag of pink sand a few years back, never gave it a thought then, but now. The sea glass is on private land (found this out when I checked on where to look) so never bothered to trespass when a friends asked me to bring her home some. As for shells I don't bother have plenty but I did take some small rocks years ago that were different. I generally take any small odd stones when I travel (except from Hawaii could be volcanic and cursed). Never gave rocks/stones a thought either, but have one from Bermuda from 22 years ago that's enough. Thanks for sharing this.
