Marella Dream re-furb

Recommended Posts

I see the Dream heads in today for dry-dock in Croatia. All very sketchy as to what will be done outwith what you would expect in dry dock. I assume they are using this ship yard as they are getting a good deal, as in recent years they have used Cadiz and they seem to have done excellent work.

If anyone has any updates be good to hear.

Refits are normally mainly about servicing the mechanical aspects of the ship, repainting the hull etc etc. they are mandatory every few years. As there has been no big song and dance about it don't expect any major changes to the public areas or cabins, maybe some new carpets.

Definitely new carpets required on the cabin corridors Just got off Dream and our normal cabin of 7133 had a new toilet, which stuck out an extra 4 inches and so you could only sit sideways - not very comfortable at all Even worse for hubby who is 6ft with long legs The only way he could sit properly was to put his feet in the bath but not practical at all - so only tried it once - This needs sorting in an outside plus cabin - anyone who's of a certain size wouldn't be able to sit on it at all.

We had a great time though - fabulous atmosphere, nice guests and good food.

Why not a more extensive refit to public areas and cabins? It is all down to return on investment. Will Marella get a return on any investment in the few years, maybe only 2 or 3, that Dream has left before heading to the beach in India? Dream is 34 years old.

Hi Mart

had  a look at the Dream refit it looks  quite  a large refurb what with the internal works and work on some cabins and carpets, with work to the Medusa lounge  tides and Orian restauant  with new upholstery and furishings,  but as Dave said enough to keep her going till the end.
