Waiheke Island, New Zealand

We were a little disappointed in Waiheke Island.  Mainly  because it was cloudy, a few sprinkles and the HOHO bus was sold out. I never thought to book that ahead of time. We took the city bus but only went to 2 locations.

Catch the ferry where the cruise ship docks. Walk over to the car rental, and enjoy the island. One of the most beautiful places on the planet. See the beaches, have lunch and a sip downtown, visit the wineries. Drop the car off, walk to the ferry and step off at the cruise port.

We are booked on a 6hr Food and Wine Tour for my birthday.  Our travel agent raved about it...and she wasn't even selling the tour, bought it directly. If I'm to enjoy the wine, want a driver to deliver me back to the ferry. 😉

3 Shelaghs,  You rented a car.  Did you pay for what is called Excess to cover all perils?   We would love to rent a car and do what you did.  But we are very risk averse.   Who did you rent with on the island? and may we ask the cost.
