Help please- considering Norwegian first time

I’m looking for a family cruise to Alaska and have some questions. One of our group is type 1 diabetic and has to drink lots of water. She also always carries snacks. Can she bring water and snacks aboard if it is for medical reasons?

You can bring pre-packaged snacks on board but no water.  There is plenty of good free water on board.  She might want to being a travel mug with her.

Thanks for the prompt replies. I may just go with Princess where she can bring water, Diet Coke, and snacks aboard.

I don't understand because water is available at all times in every bar, in the buffet, in restaurants and in your cabin.  No need to carry on a case of water.   The diet coke on the other hand...

I find it weird that someone with DM1 has to drink lots of water a lot of time. 

 

But NCL might need a prescription for water when you call/email NCL. 

 

It is a headache dealing with it.

Water is available 24 hours on the buffet. You can fill your mug or bottle but for sanitary reasons, you have to  pour the water into a glass first. As far as I remember, some juices and ice tea are available for free during the breakfast.

And yes, you can bring your own sweets as long as they are in their original packages.

I had ZERO problems drinking enough water on either of my NCL cruises, and I did not bring bottled water (can't) or buy the bottled/packaged water offered by the ship.  PLENTY of ways to fill your own bottles or just get a glass, as others indicated.  In fact - I've never bothered with bottled water on cruise ships, I just bring my own bottle(s) to be filled as needed.

With the drink package, will the bartenders fill your travel mug with soda, or do  you have to dump it in yourself?

Dump it yourself, but you can order 2 at a time.

Diabetes and Diet Coke is more of the concern

How much more are you paying for a Princess cruise for the right to bring on water and Diet Coke? It might not make economic sense.
