Celebrity and HAL are not even the same corporation so they well could have different protocol.

The text of the HAL letter from its president is pasted above.

I'm sure there are convo's about Covid-19 implications on the Celebrity board, here:

That's great and thank you Crystalspin

I called and spoke directly with HAL on Sunday (after holding for over 1/2 hour), and they told me that the FCC could not be used for our existing cruise in 2021.  She said that the FCC could only be used for new bookings.  It is interesting that different folks are being told completely different things.  If someone transfers the FCC to an existing booking, let us know.  That would make a big difference in what we decide to do.

I was told that it could take up to 6 weeks to receive the FCC document/certificate..what ever it is that HAL will issue!!

Maybe once we receive that we will have an answer?? At this point I think booking something in '20 might not be a great idea?? I have an early October cruise on X booked and I'm beginning to wonder what might happen to that one?

In light of the warnings over the weekend about cruise travel, it would be helpful if HAL extended the period of validity for the FCC to three years and allowed the FCC to be transferable. No one knows how long this period of uncertainty will last. Therefore, it makes no sense to make a (new) booking now with the FCC and risk losing it if the "do not cruise" advice is still in effect when the new cruise is scheduled to sail.

We feel the same way, many itineraries will change contingent on which ports are still in lockdown mode, I'm not comfortable booking now unless HAL refuses to refund the deposit which was booked as nonrefundable, I'd be happy with an FCC in that case.

Any recent experience with this? We'd like to go ahead and rebook for next year but we have no idea when HAL will cancel our existing cruise (Vancouver to Alaska on 5/24, so it will be canceled even though it hasn't been yet). Can we book now and apply the FCC to the new cruise once we receive it?

Call your TA/HAL. Don't cancel. Ask for "change in date and ship of sailing" on your existing booking. We have done that previously to keep money and perks (it was well before final payment so may not be possible in your case). Also push them to apply the current "have it all" promo.

I wasn't planning to cancel; I was waiting for them to cancel so I'd get the 125% FCC. 🙂

Also, does anyone know if the FCC can be used for shore excursions or other addons, or just the base fare? Considering a cash deposit is still required, I'd have to book a considerably more expensive cruise than the one this year to use all of the FCC if it's limited to base fare.

I know this thread is old, but I thought I'd follow up on my situation and request guidance on my latest predicament. I did end up waiting for HAL to cancel and getting the 125% FCC, which, per the terms and conditions, "cannot be transferred or used as a deposit, ... used for onboard expenses, pre- and post-cruise packages, shore excursions, taxes, fees and port expenses, Cancellation Protection Plans, FlightEase® air, Hotel Service Charges, or other optional programs or services", although the agent actually did apply it to the port taxes and fees. I did still have to pay a deposit.

So, when it became apparent that 2021 cruises weren't happening without restrictions, I called to book essentially the same itinerary for the same week in 2022. No problem.

Now that Denali is closed past mile 44, I'm wondering if we can cancel outright for a refund of what we've paid? I understand what I paid with gift cards will be refunded back to those (I took advantage of the 20% bonus last year), but I'm not sure how the FCC would work - we're within the free cancellation period of our current itinerary, but the FCC was theoretically only valid for 12 months from when it was issued, which has already passed.

Otherwise, I'm hoping we can just move it to 2023. I doubt the road through Denali would be reopened by then so I thought we might do a roundtrip from Seattle or Vancouver instead and save the interior of Alaska for later.

I think the question is - if you apply the FCC to a booking (either new or existing) and later then cancel that one, can the FCC be reapplied to another cruise (or do you lose it).  I have the same question.

Yes.  If you cancel a Cruise booked with FCC or even Partial FCC,  it will either be put back to your Mariner # or they will apply it to another Cruise even if an existing Cruise.

@strickerjMy PCC told me only Base Fare.  I also was told I could not use the FCC to Upgrade on a Casino Offer.
