Would there be fees for anchoring in Manila Bay? How long are they able to remain there? Good questions 🙂 I would think there "would be" a fee for anchoring in Manila Bay, but I would think it would be cheapish. How long will they be able to stay there?, that is the big unknown, I guess they will stay there till they off load their crew, then who knows where they will go. Kiwi_cruiser Posted May 7, 2020 Author #502 Share Posted May 7, 2020 (edited) Manila Bay is getting very busy now 😮 Here are all the ships at anchor in Manila Bay, Philippines: Golden Princess and Explorer Dream has joined the fleet in the last few days. Today Ovation of the Seas and Ruby Princess joined the rest of the ships. At the moment at anchor we got Sun Princess, Sea Princess, Majestic Princess, Queen Elizabeth, Carnival Spirit, Pacific Aria, Voyager of the Seas, Spectrum of the Seas, Costa Neoromantica, Costa Serena, and Costa Venezia. Pacific Dawn, Explorer Dream and Pacific Explorer has gone to get water and have a run: Sapphire Princess is coming back to Manila Bay, Philippines after getting water. Carnival Splendor has arrived off Manila, but it looks like she has not had approval to go in to Manila Bay yet. Rare MicCanberra Posted May 7, 2020 #506 Share Posted May 7, 2020 I imagine it is a combination of a few things, cheap mooring , the philippines is allowing it, high percentage of crew nearby for when cruising starts again, and probably location to various cruise markets depending on when they start again.

Apparently part of the deal was that the cruise ships anchored in the bay must let the Filipino government use them as quarantine stations for the repatriation of migrant workers. SeaDog-46 Posted May 8, 2020 #509 Share Posted May 8, 2020 Virtually all ports will charge for anchoring near to the port - ie inside port limits. The ships at Manila Bay are doing the 14 day quarantine & then local crew can go ashore - hopefully. Radiance otS is anchored off south east Malaysia along with over 100 other vessels in international waters. QM2 & 2 P&O UK are anchored in Weymouth Bay just east of Portland UK. Most likely free. woodienz Posted May 10, 2020 #511 Share Posted May 10, 2020 I am not sure if this has already been posted but there is a very interesting channel on YouTube called 'Same Ship Different Day" . The owner of the channel is the Alfie Smith who is the Second Senior Officer on the Coral Princess. He has posted a number of videos over a period of weeks documenting what's been happening and how Princess are going about getting crew and passengers home. Kiwi_cruiser Posted May 11, 2020 Author #516 Share Posted May 11, 2020 It looks like Spectrum of the Seas has left Manila Bay, Philippines. Unsure where she is now heading to.... The only cruise ship that was in Australia and is not in Manila Bay is Radiance of the Seas, who going by reports I have seen, she may have gone in to layup somewhere in Brunei. I cant find her on Marine Traffic at this time. If I hear any more or see anything I will let you know 🙂

Rare MicCanberra Posted May 11, 2020 #519 Share Posted May 11, 2020 Tragically, many crew are taking their lives due to the stress of being stuck on ships (with out pay for some) with no chance of getting home.
