BEST2DG

Has anyone recently booked Basic fare plus BEST2DG ? I was given a quote for this, Basic + $300 for 10 days. Since 'Plus' is $400 more than Basic and Wi Fi has no value to us this would save $100. I have not responded to the quote because it was a re-fare question and I am weighing up options, as well as hoping Princess will upgrade us from OV to Balcony 🙂 All this assumes Sept 2020 cruise happens.

No Casino discount. We are two couples an initially Ocean View was about $1200 less than balcony. Since it is port intensive cruise, late in the year and so not much time to use balcony, we decided on OV.

Current Princess balcony prices are only $250 or so more than OV we asked for a quote.

Wasn't aware Best promo still offered ... thought it was replaced by Plus

Exactly, hence my question. I have another question to be resolved with TA so have not pressed the BEST2DG question.

Sorry I didn't catch it earlier but Best2G is only covers drinks and gratuities, no Wifi so the $30/day price is accurate.  The Wifi is valued at $10 extra and as you said it's not worth it to you.  I found the original chart and am posting it below in case it is helpful to others but I'm sorry I misunderstood your post!

No problem Azbirdmom I had heard some time back that BEST codes still worked in TA system, so was not surprised it was quoted but would be surprised if it is still accepted.having said that it could be that computer system has not been updated to delete that option. Hence my question. If cruise from New York still happens and if we are brave enough to take it, a Balcony would be more assuring than an ocean view 🙂

The best codes are still alive and active!  This is not on error, Princess intended to keep the add-on offers alive.

for now … according to my crack PVP … as they were 'intended' to be 'add-on's to pre-existing bookings that had one of the

perks but not the other two … and it wasn't a rebook, or refare,

and as above, it is still alive and well, you just may have to explain it to the rep at booking

peace out

Thanks for the confirmation. Now that I think about it it makes sense to have Basic and Plus as two main options. However the BEST codes allow another level of flexibility, why not 🙂

And it is independent whether you have OV or B, so no need to delay ordering it if you want the add-on.

In our case, is is the "D" part that has no value to us.  Even if they offered a "BESTWG", there is no point since it is a wash from value standpoint.  All the value is in the "D" component if you consume sufficient each day.

"D" component is $ 15 pp pd - alcoholic $12 and under and non-alcoholic - unlimited

Yes, I know.  But if we already have grat's from a pre-existing promo (and that is a wash anyway with our cost at $14,50).  And if internet is only a value of ~$5/day to us based on package cost and discounts, then drink value is up around $20/day to break even.

90% of the time I bring my own wine and that can be ~$5/day/pp (based on our actual consumption levels).  So now I need to spend about $15/pp/day on other drinks - and we don't historically.  So, with no change in habits, no value for us.  But I admit it is tempting and would be of more value in a situation where difficult to impossible to bring sufficient wine on board..

Just to restate, I was intrigued because on Princess website OV are currently just $115pp less than  Balcony for Plus Fares. It was $600 when we first booked.

Our existing TA OV is $391 less than current Princess website Balcony and we would also lose $104 in perks. I have not been able to clarify TA current Balcony fare, I think we miscommunicated.

I also checked an online site and was amazed to see a much lower balcony price. I must have visited this site three or more times. I checked one more time and saw that although first screen shows 'Plus' fares once I select cabin type, it changes to 'Saver' fares ! Could easily have missed that.

When the dust settles I think we will stay with original OV or cancel for fear of Covid -19. New York in September ???
