Nailed it🏅 They are the rhyolite mountains of Landmannalauger. We visited with one of Iceland's famous super jeep tours as access here is only via F roads. It is nicknamed the pearl of Iceland and there is a nice little 1.5 hour loop walk between the mountains or if you prefer down at the camp ground you can soak yourself in the thermal baths.

Well we can work our way up the coast to Noosa, don’t know of any further north other than Italy and that is out of the question at the moment.
