BA uncle Les, I m sorry I’m a bit geographically challenged? I think it was 38 days or what ever. This is just research and speculation but it’s good research and speculation.

You missed needing to be tested no more than 3 days before you travel by air into the United States and return a negative result. Then, on return to Australia, the need to go into government approved mandatory quarantine for 14 days from arrival, unless excepted.☹️ Too hard, just for a cruise. ivanp91 Posted June 28, 2021 #521 Share Posted June 28, 2021 29 minutes ago, NSWP said: 🌶 Chilli and PVSA is? Thanks Passenger Vessel Services Act. It's the rule that states non-US flagged ships that start/end cruises in US ports must visit at least one "distant foreign port". That's why previously when a cruise started and ended in the US, there was always at least one stop in Mexico, Canada, the Caribbean, etc. This is currently on pause at least for Alaska cruises, meaning they can depart and return to Seattle, and stop in Alaska, without visiting a foreign port (ie: Canada) along the way.
GUT2407 Posted June 28, 2021 #522 Share Posted June 28, 2021 PVSA they only need to do a Distant Foreign port if going to other US ports. So Florida to the islands and back is OK it’s a little complicated but is why only one ship does road Hawaii, currently the fact Canada us shut has needed a waiver to do Alaskan cruises. If we had a similar law we couldn’t do a Sydney-Tasmania cruise, a half circumnavigation would be problematic, depending on what we designated “Distant Foreign” our quick little Bris-Syd would be out, to protect a ship building industry that doesn’t exist. Another silly rule makes cruises to nowhere virtually impossible too. You know Syd out yo sea for a couple of nights, back home.

Don't be too scathing of P&O they may be first cruise line back middle of next year when we are nearly all vaccinated, whereas the overseas lines may not be back until the start of the 22/23 season in September. The rust buckets have gone.
Chiliburn Posted June 28, 2021 Author #525 Share Posted June 28, 2021 13 hours ago, NSWP said: 🌶 Chilli and PVSA is? Thanks The Alaska cruises leaving from Seattle would have to call into Canada to satisfy the PVSA act. It had a temporary reprieve but now it looks permanent. For cruises leaving for LA they have to duck down to Mexico. It became unsafe in Mexico and a lot of the ships stopped doing LA. I think our ships will end up in LA over Christmas,it’s a big market. California is the 5th biggest economy in the world.
