mollygirl Posted July 12, 2021 #1 Share Posted July 12, 2021 We just booked a cove balcony on the Horizon (cabin 2370) and doing some research shows we may be under the galley. Have you had a cove balcony near this one? And was the galley noise a problem? We booked this with a casino offer and upgraded to a balcony. The available cove balconies under the galley were all we could choose from for the upgrade price. So I’d love hearing from you if you have had one in this area. Thanks! BrotherCraig Posted July 12, 2021 #2 Share Posted July 12, 2021 We had cove under the galley twice - once on the Breeze and once on the Magic. Didn't bother us at all. We did hear some scrapes and bumps but they didn't wake up and was no big deal. I would book a Cove again under the galley if midship-fwd was not available. Great - Good to hear! I love the fact that we will be near the water.
Sweetiepie3 Posted July 12, 2021 #4 Share Posted July 12, 2021 We had cove balconies under the galley on both the Vista and Breeze and had no issues. No noticeable noises.
cocomango Posted July 20, 2021 #5 Share Posted July 20, 2021 We were on 2330 on Horizon. Didn't know we were under the galley until we heard the carts rolling above us. Wasn't a big deal though!
Rare mexicobob Posted July 20, 2021 #6 Share Posted July 20, 2021 Cove balconies are fantastic in my opinion if you enjoy being close to the water. Not for everyone. Being under the galley would be the least desirable of this type of cabins as there can be much noise. Depends on your level of tolerance and how much movement goes on above you I guess. I would never book another cabin below the galley myself, even if you gave it to me. Way too much noise. But, will always book a Cove Balcony otherwise. It was a 5 day cruise. On 3, maybe 4 of the nights, I was awakened around 2:30 am, to the sound of the 'bowling ball rolling on the floor. We were directly below the galley. It took me one day to figure out that sound was from the steel rollers from a pallet jack as the crew was moving around pallets of foodstuffs. It woke me up every time, as I'm a realllll light sleeper. But not to worry. I just went out onto the balcony to take in the beauty of an early morning darkness, and saw many lights on the far horizon....ships passing in the night. Very calming. Went back inside, crawled into bed, and went promptly to sleep. It only lasted for 20 minutes or so. Small price to pay for observing the beauty of the nighttime ocean. I'd do it again in a heartbeat. Edited July 20, 2021 by Joe817
