DH and I are booked on a guarantee balcony under a casino deal this november. On my cruise manager it says 2 twin beds and will not let me edit it. Should I be worried or just wait and see what room is assigned right before the cruise? Sorry to hijack but this is a first time booking a guarantee cabin for us as well.

My booking said the same thing, I called and they assured me it could be edited. At some point a bit closer, the option appeared to edit it from twin to king, which I did, no problem 🙂

I was worried at the thought of having a cove balcony, since I love the view from the regular balcony, but after reading this list, I feel way better. If anyone else feels similarly, I recommend reading this, it’s really positive.

I adored having a cove, there's nothing under you other than the ocean. And it's a tad larger!

And as a side benefit, you are only 1 flight of stairs to the MDR. Even after formal night, we'd go to our cabin, sit on the balcony for a bit, then change clothes into something more comfortable. Then wander around the ship taking it all in. We very much enjoyed doing that.

We have had a guaranteed room several times and have always been satisfied. On our last cruise we had a wonderful suprise being that our cabin was located on the aft. We had a great time enjoying the panoramic view on the very back of the ship. So, our on our upcoming cruise I requested an aft balcony, because we enjoyed it so much!

We learned our cabin number with our online check in. What, about a couple of weeks before debarkation?

First cruise since childhood and because of my lack of a preference for location, I decided to go with a guarantee balcony room on the carnival horizon. Just curious what everyone’s experiences are with this class of cabin? Have you had completely obstructed balconies? I was told by the booking agent “almost all of the views are great” but, he’s also paid to book cruises. Anyway, please share your experiences. Thank you!!

The only time I booked a guarantee balcony category, we got a balcony in the rear of the ship that did not have a sofa.  It was the last room on the floor, under the Lido deck.  Noise did not bother us but the lack of sofa was a minor inconvenience.

Good question. I’ve always wondered but never had the guts to pull the trigger.

I had the same thing for my upcoming Alaska cruise. I booked a GTY. The planner showed the TBA cabin and wouldn't let me edit the bedding. After I got my cabin assignment, I was able to  change it to a king. Piece of cake.

We did it one time and haven't done it since.  It was a good pack and go balcony deal, or so we thought. It was our first balcony room.  We were assigned a room on deck 6 above a club. Music was going until wee hours of the morning, mainly bass blaring.  On the positive side, it introduced us to  balcony rooms and we haven't booked anything else since.  We just pick the room up front that we want and pay the extra cost.

On our first cruise we let them pick for us on the Fantasy out of Chucktown. Unfortunately the ship was sold out and we ended up under the galley, there were dishes and pots being dropped at all times of the day and night. I think that we may have been under the deep sinks, so sleep came at a premium. We still had a blast but just didn't sleep as well as we could. Now we always make sure that there are cabins above and below us!!! We are are Platinum, so it didn't scare us off from cruising!!!
