kstater Posted September 19, 2021 #1 Share Posted September 19, 2021 Good morning, We have a cruise booked for two cabins in January. There is a pretty significant price drop so had a couple questions. We’ve paid in full even though it’s before final payment date, so I know the refund will be in form of credit back to the card we purchased with. My question is, we have also paid for drink packages, will that be re priced as well, or is it just an adjustment to the cruise fair?

deliver42 Posted September 19, 2021 #3 Share Posted September 19, 2021 Keep watching even after final payment. I just got $1300.00 OBC on our Alaska cruise on the Ovation due to a huge price drop. I just called Royal, and in a couple of days it showed up in our cruise planner. The Royal rep is the one who actually figure out how much it dropped. Couldn't believe it. Cruise fare and purchases in the Cruise Planner are two different things. Cruise fare price drops before Final Payment Date will be credited back to your method of payment. Cruise fare price drops after Final Payment Date will be credited as On Board Credit and can be used before the cruise via Cruise Planner or on board the ship. Drink packages that have a price drop need to be cancelled (which will result in the full purchase price being credited back to the method of payment for that purchase) and then repurchased under the new pricing. They won't just "reprice" the drink package, you have to cancel/refund and then repurchase.
kimberlypodgorny Posted September 20, 2021 #5 Share Posted September 20, 2021 I finally just received my onboard credit today. Apparently some are taking longer than others. This was my 6th call to royal and thankfully I reached someone helpful. The only downside is that I wasted 2 hours on the phone with her as she had to contact another department. tbmrt Posted September 21, 2021 #6 Share Posted September 21, 2021 Can I still get a credit if I book with a travel agency instead of directly with RC? Would I need to go through my travel agency to ask for this? Thanks!

Jasukkie Posted September 21, 2021 #8 Share Posted September 21, 2021 We turned on our OBC into cash in the casino without a problem. Had zero expenditures on board due to the Diamond drink vouchers. Walked off with $1200 in cash. Great cruise. 1

We got a big price drop for a couple of the solo cruisers on our Anthem cruise and one of them is wondering how to spend it all. I'll let him know this is a possibility. seychelle Posted September 21, 2021 #10 Share Posted September 21, 2021 Maybe this is just select cruises but my sister and her friends, 2 separate reservations and staterooms, each got refund (not obc) back after final payment when they called yesterday. It was for Navigator in November.

So they couldn’t be past the final payment date for a cruise in November.
seychelle Posted September 22, 2021 #12 Share Posted September 22, 2021 She did mention she was told that refunds would be given now up to 30 days out so I'll bet you are right -- I had forgotten that and I didn't know about the change for final payment to 30 days. I just knew it was after she had made her final payment. Thanks.
