Rare FlaMariner Posted December 3, 2021 #26 Share Posted December 3, 2021 The Hawaii ban seems odd..... I just looked at the arrivals at Honolulu airport and it looks like thousands of folks are arriving hourly....(based on many, many flights listed from Asia and the mainland) and lots of puddle jumpers flying between the various islands. They are not a risk but a cruise ship is a risk? At least cruise passengers bring their own food and place to stay so the ship could be quarantined.....unlike planes. Our experience w/HAL on our recent Rotterdam trans Atlantic is that HAL just waits it out because governments keep changing the game.....at one point, we were 45 days from departure and the Netherlands said we would all have to quarantine upon arriving....we thought that was the final straw for the TA sailing (there were many spits and starts) but HAL did nothing and that was later lifted and a great cruise was had by all! Based on our experience, our advice to those wondering if they will sail to Hawaii or not is just to relax and wait it out....(although we did not relax...LOL). And all the best. Again, rational thinking and science do not seem to be a factor so it is useless to try to figure it out. Smooth sailing......
KirkNC Posted December 3, 2021 #27 Share Posted December 3, 2021 I think it is because the required port agreements have not been executed. Not sure what Hawaii wants in place before they will sign off.

At least it is some thing if possible, to research by those who have Hawaii sailings soon

Look how long it has taken for cruising to be permitted out of US ports, long after domestic and international air travel had resumed with no vaccine requirements or proof of testing.
mcrcruiser Posted December 4, 2021 #30 Share Posted December 4, 2021 (edited) It seems to us with port contracts yet to be drawn up & all parties in agreement that there could be more future delays of cruise ship sailing to Hawaii . We are even hoping that Jan 2023 will be clear ;because of the new variants . This virus is going to be in the world a long time imo One thing that can help immensely in addition to the vaccines is the Pfizer anti covid pills that if covid symptoms appear ,your doctor can write a order for the pills & they are taken at home & no need to go to a hospital .Could be a game changer along with more people getting vaccinated as the world fights to mitigate covid Edited December 4, 2021 by mcrcruiser

It also has a fairly narrow window for use. While it is another tool for treatment it has its limitations.
