Questions about the Glory

I have a few questions about the Glory since the reopening.

1. Are the musicians still playing along the walk way along Casino?

2. Do they still have the Cooking Demonstration on first sea day or any other day?

3. Do they still offer specials in the spa nightly?

4. What is the masking situation like?

Thank you and if there is any other information you would like to share, please do. I am so ready to be back on the Glory in February.

Just off the Glory a couple weeks ago...

1- Yes, music on promenade next to casino every evening.

2- I did not see it listed for my Thanksgiving cruise unfortunately; always something I enjoy going to!

3- Can't answer this one as I typically ignore anything spa related; sorry!

4- No masks outside, masks encouraged everywhere inside and required in high traffic areas (shops, shows, restaurants until you get to your table, and casino). Personally I only saw that policy really being enforced in the casino and the MDR/lido buffet.

Thank you, did you go on any excursions, if so which ones?

No ship excursions, but did a private excursion in Roatan. If your cruise is going there, Daniel Johnson Monkey & Sloth hangout was incredible! Got to play with monkeys, hold a sloth, and got a great island tour. Very reasonably priced as well.

For anyone on a Conquest class ship, which includes the Glory, be aware that you can bypass the congestion on the 5th deck promenade by walking thru the passageway from the 4th deck aft nightclub to the mid ship elevators go to the casino.

WE found very low mask compliance in the public walkways so this was our way to avoid the crowds, esp. on elegant nights with a photo station every 25 ft.

About the only indoor place where mask announcements on the Freedom & MG were made was the comedy club.

Thank you to everyone that has commented. I am excited to cruise again. I am still disappointed that the Dream is no longer porting in New Orleans as I really like the layout better than Glory. Mostly because we like the live music and the Glory puts its music along the casino walkway ( not good for my allergies). I hope the smoking will not be too bad. One can dream any way!

I will say that on our Glory cruise in November, the smoke in the Promenade around the stage was VERY minimal. Of course no smoking at all at the casino bar anymore. The smoking section of machines in the Glory casino was the furthest side from the Promenade walkway so it seemed to really help cut down on the amount of smoke drifting everywhere.

Hello everyone!!! It looks like my wish will be coming true and there will not be any smoking in the casino for my February 6th trip. I am not to thrilled about the continued Masking rules but will follow them while not eating/or drinking. My question is if I am sitting at the bar in casino drinking can I take the mask off?  I read that the casino bars are open. We like to listen to live music and that usually where the solo acts are. Can any one confirm where the live music is and what type it is?

Was just on the Glory last week.

Most people sitting at the bar did not wear a mask.

Almost everyone was wearing a mask while walking indoors.  Alot of people were taking them off while seated and eating / drinking throughout the ship.

Was on the post-Thanksgiving sailing, nearly zero mask enforcement outside a few places like the stores, table games (no where else at the casino), guest services, etc.  Even if a crew members decide to say "mask up" (many turn away), if one ignores them, there aren't any consequences.

Where and what type of live music was being performed?

We got off Glory this last Sunday. FYI the Glory is now in wet dock in Freeport. Yours will be the first after that. They are not making any official comment on what is being done but one rumor is they are taking out the bar by the bathrooms to expand the casino and will rely on the sports bar for casino service. That has been done in wet dock on other ships. But who knows?

I do know one thing they could spend a lot of time doing. And that is replace the burned out lights on elevator buttons - there are a ton that need replacing. 😄

One of the waiters in the amidship MDR did say that right after we got off he was going to be busy wrapping all the tables and chairs in there to protect them for when the contractors came in.

On our Glory Christmas week cruise, The Glory Rock Band played in the atrium quite a bit - they are awesome!  There was also live music in the casino along the walkway.  However, the week following our cruise is when a lot of the entertainment schedules changed drastically due to Omicron.  I think the production shows are still shut down??  Sip & cover was enforced in the comedy club and in the dining rooms/lido buffet. From what I've read on these boards, the mask enforcement varies from ship to ship.  But for our specific cruise, most passengers were compliant.  I was really surprised to be honest at how well people "behaved".  We definitely enjoyed NOT having to walk through the cloud of smoke on the casino deck - hope that is permanent!!  Enjoy the Glory!
