sunlover2 Posted January 8, 2022 #1 Share Posted January 8, 2022 Looking at flights for our Canada/NE cruise in September. My choice of flights is 11:09 am or 2:29 pm. Do not want to wait around til the 2:29 flight. We plan on booking The Key 🤞. Will the 11 am allow us enough time to catch that flight? Thanks so much!! Rare DCPIV Posted January 8, 2022 #2 Share Posted January 8, 2022 I don't mean to be facetious, but I don't think one ever should count on things going smoothly at EWR.
ticketsunlimited Posted January 8, 2022 #3 Share Posted January 8, 2022 Absolutely. Shouldn’t be an issue unless you are delayed coming into port.

I think you have plenty of time to catch that flight. Under normal circumstances, you'll be off the ship between 7-8am. If you have TSA pre-check, you'll have no issues. Make sure you have a back up plan just in case Murphy's Law creeps its ugly head. 😉
sunlover2 Posted January 8, 2022 Author #6 Share Posted January 8, 2022 Auntiemomo....yes we have TSA precheck plus flying 1st class (love my miles). Thank you!
Cigar King Posted January 8, 2022 #7 Share Posted January 8, 2022 You already know the risks, but, I can tell you that once we were in a massive traffic jam going to Newark after getting off the ship. Some accident on a bridge, I don't recall the exact details. Skinny is it took hours. Our flight was later and we were fine. We made that same trip many times, only once was there an issue. Chance favors the prepared mind.
yogimax Posted January 8, 2022 #8 Share Posted January 8, 2022 Take the 2:29. Stuff happens. Why stress about all week? If you are flying first class with miles, treat yourself to lounge access and enjoy the wait.

cruiserjt Posted January 17, 2022 #10 Share Posted January 17, 2022 Early flight is fine - so many posts about timing. The bottom line - what is your plan B if the ship is late into port and doesn't disembark until 10AM?
navybankerteacher Posted January 18, 2022 #11 Share Posted January 18, 2022 If the alternate flight were much later, I would probably go for the 11:09 - but the 2:29 would get you to Illinois at a decent time - while allowing opportunity for a relaxing lunch before boarding. With that little time difference there is no point in rushing things.
