Majestic Princess Jan 22 and Feb 19, 2022 live report

I was spoiled during my last trip I could walk to MDR anytime and get seated right away. Not anymore. With the ship getting crowded, MDR reservation is highly recommended. There’s a long line circling around in front of MDR. Only 2 MDRs and half of the buffet room are open while number of guests increases significantly.

🤔  suppose there's a staffing or some sort of compliance issue ?

On our September Majestic Princess cruise, we implemented a tip we learned here on CC and brought a plastic shower curtain from the dollar store.

It made using the shower more pleasant, and we bought several more, since. We will bring two this spring for our Azamara cruises.

Did you bring hooks also?

This time I went to Allegro dining room since I didn’t make it there during my last trip. It’s located all the way back and not very easy to get there. Around 6:30pm the dining room’s jam packed with long line in the front to get in. I thought the aft is supposed to be more stable but I felt some sea motion during the dinner. I’m pretty sure I’m not drunk. Overall I’m not very impressed with Allegro dining room so for the rest of the cruise I’ll probably go back to Concerto.

First night MDR menu - I think it looks the same as my Jan trip.

The server was very busy. So it took a while before he came by to take the order. I already finished the whole bread by then. I had goat cheese, grilled prawns, and chilled pina colada soup for starters. They’re all pretty good.

Last trip I got the crawfish stew, so this time I tried the Mahi Mahi instead. The fish was delicious but I didn’t like the quinoa.

For dessert I ordered the soufflé and pistachio creme brûlée. But the server brought me the chocolate cake instead of soufflé which’s ok since I just had soufflé during lunch. Both of them were very good. The service was very slow. Table next to me didn’t get coffee and digestif until after they finished the dessert. I think Princess didn’t prepare for sudden increase in passenger numbers. We’re sailing with less than thousand guests just a couple weeks ago. Tomorrow is a formal night I think the dining room could be busier.

After dinner I went up to see the buffet line. It looks pretty sad with limited options, even smaller choices than my Jan trip. With higher number of guests, they should offer more on the buffet line.

Tonight entertainment was comedy show by Andrew Grose. His sketches were funny but I think AJ Jamal on my last cruise was better. Then I went up to see the fountain show which I missed last time. It’s ok, not very spectacular. I was wondering what’s the raised space in the middle of the pool deck. Apparently it’s a fountain. I’d prefer a wide open space on the pool deck instead of having this big fountain stuck in the middle between the two pools.

I think the staffing is lagging the current passenger loads. For example,  my waiter was losing his assistant (end of his contract, going on vacation, will he come back? We don't know yet.)  When I ate at a later time, there was less crowding since a lot of passengers were trying to get to the shows.

I love this photo of the fountains! I missed them too when we were on the Majestic in September. I plan to check them out when we are on the Majestic again in April. Thank you for your photos and for taking us along on your cruise this week. I really enjoyed following along on your last trip in January.

Having breakfast on the balcony - another bucket list crossed. It’s very chilly in the early morning.

Breakfast by the sea. Coffee comes in thermal carafe to keep it warm. They forgot the orange and tomato juices.

Today’s a sea day so I lazily enjoy the time drinking coffee on the balcony. Then I went up to the buffet room for second breakfast. There’s no egg benedict in the buffet line today. Very limited choices. NCL is doing much better job for the buffet.

So I came down to Concerto room. Egg benedict is available in the MDR.

I’m not quite sure what it means. My brain doesn’t really work in the morning. Does it mean life is better when we have well-provisioned breakfast table?

I started with the compote.

And of course the egg benedict. I think it’ll worth $10 more if they sprinkle some chopped parleys or garnish with some green.

I like running egg on my egg benedict. The hollandaise sauce is a little to rich. Next time I’ll ask for sauce on the side.

I recommend going back for lunch and having two ice cream scoops and a piece of the James Beard French toast. Don't bother with the lamb chops if they have that pub lunch. Maybe the fish I think that was on the menu.

May be an image of dessert and indoor

I walked over to Terminal 93 to take photos of the ship from the bow side. Apparently you’re not allowed to wander around the Terminal 93 building although there’s no sign or rope to prevent you from walking over there.

To exit the harbor, the ship has to make 360deg turn in this tight space under Vincent Thomas bridge. It’s in interesting maneuver to watch during the sail away.

I don’t see French toast on the breakfast menu. Look like it’s only available for lunch in the MDR. Thanks for the suggestion.

I think there’s a Live report for the Feb 19 cruise by another member. I don’t want to start a new one so I’ll probably append the photos on this thread.

We had more lunch options in the buffet line than yesterday. Chicken korma was pretty tasty, although the indian food here is still far behind what’s offered on NCL ships.

I skipped dessert from the buffet line because I wanted to try the James Beard’s French Toast. So I came down to the MDR. The French toasts were huge! It’s served warm to hot. I put ice cream on top of the French toast and it’s divine. Ice cream is only available in MDR and the flavors change daily. I finished the two toasts and four scoops of ice cream. I’ll be rolling out of ship at the end of the cruise.

I took a nap in the afternoon and woke up

just in time before the sunset. I’m on starboard side, so I get the sunset view when we travel down. Last time I was on the port side so it’s a nice change. Although I think the port side is slightly better since the sunset looks more beautiful (less fog/cloud) when we’re heading back north from Mexico.

Enjoy a drink while watching the sunset.

We’re in Cabo today. The first tender already left. We arrived a little bit ahead of schedule. Weather is dry and h.o.t.

I’ve amazing view from the balcony! The starboard side is right in front of the Lovers Beach.

Your photos are amazing!  Thank you for continuing to post during your new journey!

We will be cruising on her in April and are looking at independent excursions in PV. Would you mind letting me know what ship time is when you arrive in PV and what time that is local time?

The port time could be slightly different from cruise to cruise. They don’t run exactly the same itinerary on every cruise.

The ship time is one hour behind the local PV time. On this cruise we’ll arrive PV at 8am ship time — so it’s 9am local PV time. Very confusing but it’s kind of standard practice on other cruise lines too. Most vendors that deal with cruise passengers are probably familiar with this.

Last night was the first formal night. Same menu as my Jan cruise. B1BA2149-1638-48F4-9AAE-A704A0ACD420.thumb.jpeg.7f5cb863022a442f3549e2d2e35586f8.jpeg

Duck pate was good.

Duck was worse than last trip. The meat was so tough. I burned all my ice cream calories by cutting and chewing the meat.

I also ordered the shrimp just in case the duck was bad which was a good decision.

I skipped the desserts since I’d been eating all day.

Ask for it at breakfast in the dining room even if it is not one of the daily specials. They can probably prepare it for you anyway.
