I just asked Princess Cruises the names and locations of the dining rooms on the Discovery Princess and I have an answer.  This is a copy/paste of their reply…

Regarding the main dining rooms Juneau can be located on deck 5 - midship, Ketchikan on deck 6 - aft and Skagway on deck 6 Midship.

Thanks…we have the same time each night in Ketchikan & I figured it’d be located on deck 6 aft. On Majestic we also had the same DMW time nightly & was assigned deck 6 aft (Allegro) like before DMW when having TD.

We decided to select Skagway until learning the only available times are at 5:00 or 8:40 & later so we’ll keep 6:00 in Ketchikan.

We like to have our first dinner (lol) early so we have plenty of time for the casino, MUTS, and maybe a show.  And then we eat again… something small of course.

Thanks!  Would love to know who the CD and Director of Restaurant Operations will be.

You’re welcome.  Are you on social media? If so, ask them there because that’s how I got my response.

I have never heard of the Director of Restaurant Operations.  Is that a new position or am I just not in the know???

My preference would be Skagway as well (given can get desired time slot).  Works well as I am kind of partial to the thought of Skagway as it was the first and only place I have been in Alaska thus far.  Drover overland from Yukon Territory one summer a long time ago.

I just discovered that my dining times were canceled when my cruise was canceled in error.  I just added the dining times back and wanted to let you know that all times are showing as available in Skagway right now if you are still wanting to change your dining times.

We are traveling with a group of 40ish people. The TA sets up the dinner time (5:00) for the group unless someone opts out. In the past (we always go with a group) the TA has not been able to choose the dining room. One time the TA had a fit about the dining room chosen because it was hard to get to for disabled people. Only one elevator went to the dining room and a set of stairs. So we've never known which dining room we will be in until we get on the ship. But not an issue for us.

Yes, you are describing the aft dining room and we are not a fan of the location.  Now, you get to choose your dining room and time.

Has anyone noticed the addition of stairwells inside the Vista Lounge to the Aft dining room beneath it? Handy if that is the location of the PES happy hour (for those able to use stairs of course)

On our two full capacity Sky cruises in Dec 2019 the PES lounge was in the beautifully re-designed Vista Lounge. The nibbles were over and above our expectations and experiences on previous cruises. Sadly I hear with reduced capacity sailings the offerings are actually quite sad right now. We only attended one night on a recent Regal cruise, nothing was worth our time or calories.

I have never noticed stairwells inside of the Vista lounge. Thanks for that information and I will be sure to this on my next cruise.

Thank you very much…with your help we switched to Skagway at our preferred time. 😊👍

What difference does it make when it looks like there won’t be more than a few hundred on the first cruises

I have a feeling that the Discovery may be crowded on her Maiden voyage.  Also, I have never liked the Aft MDRs.

When I tried to edit my reservation at 6:40 PM, my party of 3 will be split across multiple tables in Skagway, whereas my initial reservation in Ketchikan is for a private table.  Not good!

There’s only two people in our party. I would not have accepted that and left my reservation the same. Did you change it?
