Two questions about OBC

I just noticed on my booking that if I click on the little “i” next to my OBC amount, it says, “ Some on-board credits are now available to use before your cruise.”  This is the first I have heard of this!  Does anyone have details?

And second question…if I have $300 OBC and my cabin mate is a no show, do I get the entire $300?

Thanks in advance. After 2 years of postponement, I may finally be sailing this June! (Fingers crossed)

They started obc for precruise purchases recently but it's not on all cruises yet.  And from past experience no you don't get obc if the other person is a no show. From personal experience, we lost ours. 2nd person didn't show. 3rd & 4th did not obc was assigned to only 1 & 2, nothing could be done to recover it

Thank you!  A simple internet search and I found a Cruise Spotlight article that said this was starting on March 15 (I should have searched first, but I have been away from cruise research for so long…it was just too depressing with all the delays). But this is great news.

Where do I find how much credit I have?

When you go to your Cruise Manager and View Balance Details, it is at the bottom of the page. It is nice they put it there now. Used to be, it was only on your confirmation email, which doesn’t get updated over time if you get more OBC for various reasons. I am pleased with them allowing it to be used in advance. They certainly didn’t have to do that. Now if we can just get Cheers! to work on private islands!

I’m not sure how else to help. Are you sure you have OBC?

When you are logged into your booking, across the top you should see Cruise Manager, Planner and Booking & Order Details in the center.  Click on Booking & Order Details, under Your Bookings, it should show the names of the people on the booking, bed preference and dining preference and it will show either a balance or paid in full.  Next to that you should be able to click on View Balance Details.  That will bring up your cruise rate, taxes, insurance, total costs, etc.  There is a heading that says Onboard Credits and it will show what the balance is.

Not available until  March 15th  I believe.  Haha I tried my darndest to  figure out Why it wouldn't work for our 2\19 sailing. Our PVP explained it to me.😅

Looks like I can't access it b/c I booked through a travel agent. So annoying.

Thanks for explaining this. I am in the same situation and I have tried all the instructions in this post and other posts to see my  Booking Details but I can’t see them.  I think you’re right and It’s because I used an agent to book. I don’t like that. I can see my payment details even If I have booked with an agent with NCL.

Looks like if you book through a travel agent you can still use the OBC for excursions and things, you just can't see it as easily.  If you are unsure of how much OBC you have just add a bunch of excursions to your cart and go to check out.  Before you pay it will say how much OBC you have that can be applied to the purchase.

I just tested this out and was able to use my OBC at checkout for Cheers. My plan was to just use part of it and leave some of it for my daughter to use. But it looks like if your purchase exceeds your OBC amount, you have to exhaust the entire OBC amount. Is that consistent with what others have seen or has anyone seen a way to just use a portion of your OBC?

I have been off the boards for awhile so I didnt know about this,  but I just decided to book the Chefs table and was pleasantly surprised when it offered to use some of my OBC to pay for it for ourJuly cruise. It just offered the option. I was just saying to the hubs, we haven't even been in a hotel room for 2 years so I am soooo ready for this cruise and we are doing this experience! July can't get here soon enough!

If you were to buy anything onboard, your folio would be charged in that manner: OBC first, then either cash or card on file.

you can't use OBC ahead of time until cruises after either march 15 or april 15, I've heard both.

I booked a May casino offer cruise that offered $200 OBC. I saw that symbol and when I paid my deposit it automatically applied the OBC in addition to my deposit. I wasn't thrilled that they did it automatically but it really doesn't matter since I now have to pay $200 less for final payment.
