Prince Edward Island - Tender

Curious to hear from others who have been there to see exactly where you get on land. We'll be with NCL Joy this coming September and looking into the brewery/distillery tour excursions. If the tender drops us off near Charlottetown, we can just wander on our own. But if it's dropping you off further away, then the more formal tour has it's merits.

Sailing12away, I didn't realize Charlottetown would be a tender port.  Still not response to your question.  I'm just starting to research tours for our Celebrity cruise.

Charlotte PEI can be a tender port as there is only room to dock for one ship.

Hi, I actually live on PEI and your ship will dock right in downtown Charlottetown. You may need to tender in as there is only room for one ship. You'll be in the heart of the city where you can wonder around on foot exploring shops, restaurants and attractions. You may need to book a distillery tour privately if there is not an excursion option. Enjoy your visit!

For the bars and distilleries that are right there, are you able to just wander in on your own to sit and have a few pints? Or does it have to be an arranged group tour type of thing? Was hoping to make most of our stops on the upcoming Canada trip more laid back and follow where our noses and bellies take us without pre-set scheduled things if possible. 

 

Covid times makes everything less go-with-the-flow, and what the rules are now certainly may change by September too.

You can easily wander around and go in and out of bars and restaurants, no need for reservations or a group tour. Distillery visits would require a vehicle of some type as there are none in the downtown core.

Hi,

You can check the port schedule for Charlottetown to see what ships are in when you are there.  I am there on Sept 09 on the Norwegian Joy and it shows only that ship in that day.
