Opps.......now what about the deposit?

Recommended Posts

Son and DIL are presently booked for a cruise in October celebrating their 10th anniversary.  Found out today they will not make that sailing as she will deliver a new grand baby in December.

So it’s a medical reason they will be required to cancel.. Can they get their non refundable deposit applied toward a 2023 sailing?  Or is that deposit toast?

Just asking here, figure we will get the right answer from the board prior to calling RCL.

The cruise with confidence currently only applies to sailings before Sept 30 and considering they stopped including new bookings in it, I doubt they will extend that. So the pre covid rules apply - penalty with the rest in fcc. So each person's deposit minus the $100 fee. But they expire 1 year from when issued so I'd wait until almost final payment. Babies have to be at least 6 months to sail so if they want to bring the kid that would cross out most of the fcc time.

Thank you so much, my lazy selfishness figured the board would answer that more quickly than hey could look it up.

Congratulations!

It won't hurt to explain the exact situation. Someone on another board recently had the exact same situation and when they explained Royal moved their deposit to a cruise farther out without charging the fee even though it would have been applicable.

Obviously it depends on luck and who you get on the other end of the phone, so there's no guarantee the same will happen for your family.
