Non-refundable OBC - Casino?

Charge your play to your on board account. The amount will net against any credit (OBC) or debit balance. At the slots you do this yourself, just follow the prompts. At the tables just place your medallion on the table, tell the dealer you want to charge play to your on board account and mention the amount, example $200. The pit boss will handle the transaction, have you sign a paper and will then instruct the dealer to provide you with the chips. Then play away. Any slot winnings or remaining balance will be in your casino account. You have to cash out your casino account before the deadline on the last evening. For table games your balance will be in the form of chips that you can cash out or carry back to your cabin. Make sure you cash out your chips before you disembark the ship.

We weren't allowed to do this on the Regal Princess pre-covid.

We never sailed on the Regal ,but it's strange that the Regal would operate different than other ships in the fleet. Over 40 Princess cruises pre-covid and we were always able to charge casino play to our on board account where it netted against any debit or credit balance.

We were never "officially" allowed to do this. It's a work-around to getting the nonrefundable onboard credit utilized.  It's kinda like fight club, first rule.  Never tell your casino host you are doing this!

Really? There was never any restriction on charging play to your on board account which nets against a credit balance. What is frowned upon is using the casino as an ATM, by charging play to your onboard account and then quickly cashing out. As long as you actually play there is no restriction.

Back in Jan/Feb 2020 we used our OBC in the casino without any problems on the Regal.

I asked for $300 to be charged to my cabin so I could play craps on a table that seemed favorable. It took a few minutes for them to scan my medallion, do the necessary paperwork and give me my chips. After a couple of bets the table turned very cold, everyone left and I was the only one left at the table. I don’t normally throw the dice so I left as well. After a few minutes bored in the casino I cashed in $292 in chips. Nothing was said when cashing in my chips after about 20 minutes.
