Heat wave in Italy next week

I just edited my packing  for my June 1 Oosterdam sailing. Temps will be in the high nineties by next weekend in Florence and Rome☀️

We were last in Italy in 2016, June 1-15. The temps were in the 90s every day. 

 

Not surprised at all. What source for average temps were you using?

I just checked: 95/96F next weekend. (Once we were in a long long queue for Uffizi in Florence in comparable midday temperatures.....). Lucca (easy by train from Livorno and a very nice little town) will be a little bit cooler.  Enjoy your cruise and the very interesting ports.

We've been in that Italian heat in August. The worst was the train going back to Rome after doing it on our own. It was packed and very uncomfortable, and that was even before a fight broke out!

 

It would have also been a lot easier at Pompeii if it were not for temperatures in the  90s.

And people wonder why I prefer to travel in Europe from November thru February!

No, I donot. But from November till the end of May normally is very nice.  We just were forced to travel in the warmer months during school holidays of the children and sometimes because of our jobs.

And some of us prefer heat over the alternative.

Wow, it was so comfortable 2 weeks ago. We like to escape the heat of Florida in the summer, but I knew it was better to go in May before the Med got just as hot.

We needed a warm sweater nearly every morning coming into port.

We are in Barcelona right now. Temperature is wonderful!!!  No heat wave. High was probably 75.

They have not yet moved Barcelona to Italy. 🤣
