drumming cruisers Posted June 20, 2022 #1 Share Posted June 20, 2022 Took taxi from Sea Tac to Marriott Waterfront. Was so nice, had a renovated room, walked across the street the next day to board the Bliss.
drumming cruisers Posted June 20, 2022 Author #2 Share Posted June 20, 2022 I contacted Concierge before cruise, (NCL sent me an email for any requests. ) Asked for frig to be cleared out, and 4 root beers, and 4 ginger ales for frig. A bowl of M&M plain and with nuts. Duvet to be removed and a light blanket on bed instead, a and foam pillows from the pillow menu. Everything had been done before we got to our cabin.
drumming cruisers Posted June 21, 2022 Author #3 Share Posted June 21, 2022 2nd night of cruise was kind of rough. About 2am, our closet kept banging open and close. I couldn't get it to stop, finally stuffed a pillow in the opening. Next day called and Judy head of housekeeping came to cabin, called a maintenance person and he put magnets on closet frame and the door. Worked great! drumming cruisers Posted June 21, 2022 Author #4 Share Posted June 21, 2022 Day 3 or 4 (cant remember) of cruise woke up to calm seas and sun shining. Decided to drink my tea on balcony while DH took a shower. After a while heard some loud noises from cabin. Went in and DH was yelling for me, he was stuck in shower! The sliding doors wouldn't open. I tired, wouldn't budge. I threw him a towel over the top of the doors, and I was going to get help when doorbell rang. It was our butler Rogeveil , I said good thing you are here, my husband is stuck in the shower. Rogee just looked kind of blank, and said 'what? ' Told him again, he ran into bathroom and tried to open the doors and couldn't. he said he was going to call for help. So who shows up? Judy head of housekeeping. My husband was so embarrassed. I started giggling and couldn't stop. 😂 He kept saying. it isn't funny!!! Judy tried to open doors and couldn't, so she called for help. 2 maintenance men came and got him out, then fixed the doors. So glad he took his shower 1st. I usually do. DH said our cabin was haunted.
Sand and Seas Posted June 21, 2022 #5 Share Posted June 21, 2022 (edited) I wouldn't want to be the one stuck in that shower either! Just instructed my DH to have the Haven robe ready to throw over the top to me😉 (He said he could just bring his tool-belt and take care of it..., but I still want that robe!) Curious, as we will be in one of these Bliss PH cabins in a few weeks. How high is the step into the tub/shower? (I'm not very tall) Edited June 21, 2022 by Sand and Seas
NW Pacific Posted June 21, 2022 #6 Share Posted June 21, 2022 The step up into the tub/shower area I personally think is high, I am short also, and hung on to the shower doors and used the sink counter for balance also. Be carefull. the Haven is so great though!!

libtrek Posted June 21, 2022 #8 Share Posted June 21, 2022 Oh my, I LOLd at your poor husband too. On a cruise, I was getting out of shower, thought I heard hubby outside door calling me, then proceeded to flash room Stewart delivering strawberries. Whoops!
Uff da Posted June 21, 2022 #9 Share Posted June 21, 2022 LOL. This is the best cruise review ever! I'd be mortified if I got stuck in the shower and had all those people try to help me out. OMG! Poor guy.
drumming cruisers Posted June 21, 2022 Author #10 Share Posted June 21, 2022 Ate in Haven restaurant for breakfast every day, was good. And a few lunches and dinners. Got tired of the repetitive menu. We are allergic to shellfish/fish, so was really limited for us. Ate at Los Lobos, Cagney's, and Le Bistro. All were good. Cagney's are favorite. Tried to eat at Q BBQ. Had a live band when arrived for our meal at 6PM. Music was so loud our waiter couldn't hear us, and we couldn't hear him. We gave up and left. A few foods we ate. French dip Haven restaurant Banana dessert Haven beef tenderloin Le Bistro ' Marquis Au Chocolat Le Bistro strawberry dessert Le Bistro Tacos Los Lobos Pork enchilada no red sauce Los Lobos

No bath tub means more room.
Cruze2020 Posted June 21, 2022 #12 Share Posted June 21, 2022 Could not disagree more! The tub is a major asset to me ... and the bath salts I requested adding the must have essential to enjoying it fully ... it’s a major reason for booking Haven. It is just about 18” high but does take extra care stepping in and out. I just disembarked from the June 11th Alaska Cruise ... also stayed at the Marriott waterfront before the cruise and Hotel1000 after. .. both fabulous. mlgb Posted June 21, 2022 #13 Share Posted June 21, 2022 I've been on Bliss twice, once for 3 weeks just before COVID and then for 5 days when they were doing short Mexico cruises. Thanks for bringing us plain ole balcony people along for the Haven experience. We had a lot of specialty dining on the 3 week cruise. I also liked Los Lobos ( I get plenty of good Mexican food at home, too). Le Bistro was my favorite, we saw the Captain eating there both times we went. Lukewarm service at Cagney's, unfortunately. I also adore the Indian station in the buffet. My go to on the 5-day cruise as I don't like much of the MDR menus.
drumming cruisers Posted June 21, 2022 Author #14 Share Posted June 21, 2022 (edited) Out 1st port was Sitka. After being escorted off ship by Haven Concierge, we wandered around looking for a sign for our excursion. whale watching, a raptor center, and bear sanctuary. After a while a shorex rep from ship announced the excursion had been canceled. She said another tour would replace it if we wanted to go on that. was same price and leaving in a few minutes. Bear sanctuary and a cruise on Silver Lake. We got the tickets for that and got on the bus. Had a great time, even though we didn't get to go whale watching. mrsjetpup Posted June 22, 2022 #15 Share Posted June 22, 2022 Thanks so much for this wonderful info. I seriously laughed out loud when reading about your shower situation. It would have gone down exactly the same with my husband and me. We will be on the Bliss in about 6 weeks. Right now we are booked in a Club Suite, but have submitted upgrade offers to the Haven and hoping one goes through. This oils be our first time in a Haven suite, on our first cruise to Alaska and our 20th anniversary. I submitted the offers without telling me husband, hoping to surprise him! 🤞🏻

drumming cruisers Posted June 23, 2022 Author #22 Share Posted June 23, 2022 At icy Straight Point, rode the new gondola to top of mountain. Was really high and straight up. i was kind of scared. Got to top and decided to walk over to watch the zipliners. A guide was there to walk group over, he had a shotgun. DH asked why, he said they were on high bear alert, a woman had been mauled the day before, her face and arm. We decided not to walk thru the woods. Beautiful views up there.

drumming cruisers Posted June 24, 2022 Author #24 Share Posted June 24, 2022 Ketchikan new dock in Wards Cove. Was a LONG walk in the rain to new terminal. Was sort of covered walkway. Terminal bldg. had a few souvenirs, a food/drink area. Mostly empty space. We got on bus to go to downtown. Took about 20 minutes. Another long walk in the rain to get where NCL used to dock and to the Tongass store. My DH wanted a t shirt from that store.

We were the first ship there last August and it was just a big empty space. Also NCL was charging for the bus both ways then. They still doing that?
