Rare Ken the cruiser Posted August 10, 2022 Author #151 Share Posted August 10, 2022 News flash hopefully! 🤞🤞🤞 Went to Guest Services today to see if we were going to have to take an antigen test the day prior to our B2B transition day in Reykjavik. She contacted someone important on the phone who asked for our cabin number. She then relayed to us that B2B paperwork will be delivered to our cabin the day prior to transition day AND as of right now it’s looking like we won’t have to take the test. But that’s not firm yet and they will know more as we closer to the end of the cruise! 🤞🤞🤞
Rare Ken the cruiser Posted August 10, 2022 Author #152 Share Posted August 10, 2022 This evening after another tasty dinner in Blu we went to the evening show to see Unique 3 and they were great!! Here’s a picture of CD Rich introducing Unique 3. Unique 3, who sang a mixture of rock, soul and opera and hit the notes superbly on all of their songs!! Then it was off to the Rendezvous Lounge to watch The Battle Game Show.

Rare Ken the cruiser Posted August 11, 2022 Author #155 Share Posted August 11, 2022 Just did another speed test as uploading pictures was definitely slower this evening! And from the test, I can see why.

pretty princess Posted August 11, 2022 #158 Share Posted August 11, 2022 On your Home Screen of the app on the bottom, there is a button that says key. Click on that. That is your digital key. You may have to go to the screen that shows daily planner. If you can’t find it, I am sure your steward will be able to help. It’s not available on all ships. It is on Summit as I was just in I’m May
Rare Ken the cruiser Posted August 11, 2022 Author #159 Share Posted August 11, 2022 OK, one last thing before calling it a night. We went to the late night Motown Interactive Theme Party up in the Sky Lounge and moved to the music of some great soul music performed by the production singers and dancers!

Thank you so much!! 😁 We opened the Celebrity app to the main page, went down to the bottom row of tabs and moved to the right until will saw “Key” as it was hidden. Then we followed the instructions to activate the key. As it turns out, part of the process included scanning my passport to verify who I was (makes sense), and I had to turn on Bluetooth on the phone as well as on the app itself by going to Settings > Celebrity and then turn on Bluetooth. Cool!!

And I think I have found a suitable substitute that I can get by the glass and it’s only 8% alcohol. I know, many of you like a more dryer wine. But for me the less acidic and more sweeter the taste is the better. 😁 Normally, I’m happy with a good German Riesling on the ship if I can’t find a tasty moscato. But when I tried this Riesling Spatlese, I found my new goto wine for the cruise! 🕺🕺 How sweet is it compared to s Moscato?
Rare Ken the cruiser Posted August 11, 2022 Author #163 Share Posted August 11, 2022 We have arrived in St John’s, Newfoundland where the temperature is a cool 56 degrees heading to a high of 63 and overcast. Perfect walking weather for strolling around town!

Pretty close, but it is a quality version which requires a Premium beverage package. There are 3 types of German Riesling that I’m aware of, Riesling, Spatlese and Auslese (ice wine which is a dessert wine), and it’s the sweeter of the white Riesling dinner wines. Rare Ken the cruiser Posted August 11, 2022 Author #165 Share Posted August 11, 2022 (edited) We just got back from our 2 hour morning “stroll” around the town. First we took a snap shot of potential places to go and then headed out on our adventure! First, we simply walked off the ship (no customs check), crossed the street, and headed up some concrete stairs to the street above and turned right. Then we saw a castle off in the distance on the top of the hill and though since we walked up the Santorini donkey path a few weeks back, surely we can walk up to the castle! 😂 So off we went to figure out how to get there. Then we came to a fork in the road and chose the road to the right, Battery Road, as it continued in an upward direction along the bay. It later switched back to reconnect to Signal Hill, but it turned out to be the right choice as it was a “switch back” that made it a more gradual climb up. On the way back we took Signal Hill down as it was a much shorter, but steeper walk. We made it up most of the way, but decided to walk around the Johnson Eco Park area as we were pretty tired by then and the views were great and there was wildlife to enjoy! 😁 Then on our walk back to the ship we took a few more pictures along the way. We also noticed a map of a difference section of the park we might visit when we come back in 12 days on our second leg. This was an interesting picture. Notice the pipelines going up the hill to the tanks above with the tanker parked below. Then when we got back on the ship as we were heading back to our cabin, I noticed all the satellite domes above our cabin area. I wonder if this is why we might be getting a little higher bandwidth results. Probably not, but thought it was interesting. CGinMTL Posted August 11, 2022 #166 Share Posted August 11, 2022 Signal Hill was the site of St. John’s harbour defences from the 17th century to the Second World War and where Guglielmo Marconi received the world’s first transatlantic wireless signal in 1901. 3

I was concerned about the availability of red wines and whisk/scotch only because I have seen recent posts about availability. Could you inquire about availability of red wine in Blu? Thanks for all your posts ! OK, it was slow in Blu at 5 pm this evening, so I ask the sommelier what were the best red wines they had. He showed me these 3, all of which require a Premium Beverage Package to get them by the glass for free. Hope this helps.
Rare Ken the cruiser Posted August 11, 2022 Author #168 Share Posted August 11, 2022 We are on our way to Qaqortoq, Greenland, just before the fog set in, with 2 sea days in between before we get there.
Rare Ken the cruiser Posted August 11, 2022 Author #169 Share Posted August 11, 2022 This evening after another tasty dinner in Blu, we were once again off to the theater to see a guest female singer impressionist, Karen Grainger, who was quite good at doing a variety of impressions! Then it was on to the Rendezvous Lounge to watch another funny game show, The Challenge.

Copied and Pasted the instructions for adding the key to the app so that I remembered how to do it in October when we sail on the Summit. I am also a big fan of the game shows! But it’s much easier to just pull my sea pass card from my pocket than it is to pull my iPhone out, enter the security code and then launch the app (if it’s not running in the background). 😂

Rare Scottishclover Posted August 12, 2022 #175 Share Posted August 12, 2022 Enjoying your live report Ken. We are just off our first Celebrity cruise,Apex to the Baltic, and also enjoyed the game shows each night with our teens. Great that you’re including some of the entertainment options. We would love to do this itinerary but there are quite a lot of sea days - is there enough to do, especially when the weather isn’t great?
