Should be called Fly2frustration...

I booked my cruise on the Celebration TransAtlantic last week.My TA and I looked at flights and decided that the Fly2fun would be the best route to go because it was cheaper and it came with with flighe coverage which is worth it since I am flying over to London.

We are trying to get the Record Locator number or eticket number so I can upgrade to premium economy. The seats keep going down and prices keep going up...

My TA has called  and been told call back in 48 hours, calls back in 48 hours gets told the same thing. Hangs up calls back and then is told I will get my information 14 days before sailing, asks to talk to supervisor, says 48 hours because there has been a flight change. Calls back and someone transferred him to Australia who was actually able to get him information that the flight numbers and dates, but that is all they could see and told him to call back today between 9:30 and 5:30 and  tell them that he needs to talk to travel services, he does that and they transfer him to resolutions and they said Travel Service will only talk to you if you are flying within the next 34-36 hours and said to email them and wait 3-5 days for an answer. He is swearing he will never ever use them again for flights.

My question is, has anyone ever called the Fly2Fun department? My TA said that they might talk to me there since I had to book it through the cruise manager, hoping that a dual attack (him from the TA side and me from the customer side) can do something, and like he said, if nothing else maybe we can get it cancelled and my money back since we don't have tickets yet so I can book it myself since I most likely will be paying what the cost is now for the upgraded seats.

Here's what might be your problem.  Your flight might not actually be ticketed yet.  So all your hard work might be premature.  F2F is NOT like buying a confirmed ticket from the airline.  I'm certainly no expert but it's only perhaps in the 30 days before the flight does it actually become a 'firm' ticket.  So I sincerely doubt you can do any upgrades while you simply hold that 'un-ticketed reservation'.

I would have thought that, but my friends already have theirs and upgraded their seats. That is what is so aggravating about this (yes they did FLy2Fun as well.)

I had a similar problem back in April when I booked my flight home from Barcelona after the Pride TA.  I had the original schedule from when I booked the flights.  Then there was a schedule change and I tried calling first my PVP, who had no access to the booking since there was a schedule change and it was in Fly2Fun’s hands.  So I called there many many times, and every time I was told to wait 48 hours and it would be remedied.  Of course it wasn’t.  About 2-3 weeks before my cruise I got someone who seemed to care, and I told her I was considering booking flights on my own because I had no confidence that I would have flights with Fly2Fun.  I told her everyone had told me 48 hours and nothing ever happened.  She said she had “someone” she would elevate this to, and voila, about 24 hours later my flights were ticketed.  I wasn’t wanting to upgrade, I just wanted to know I had a way home.  I hope this works out for you!  I feel your pain.

It could very well be in the Terms and Conditions of the particular ticket you purchased. The restriction might even be something like, no frequent flier miles, no upgrades, no seat selections. Or, everything could be normal and not realize any difference. It's a gamble.

But Hey, you saved money

Fly2Fun are consolidator tickets. These tickets are negotiated in bunches by the cruise line and the airlines. 1 batch of 50 tickets might have 0 restrictions whereas the next batch of 50 tickets have different restrictions.

The worse case I've heard was a woman bought tickets and the plane diverted to another city for maintenance. The restrictions on the ticket were such that she could only fly on that airline on that flight number.

When purchasing consolidator tickets, even if you buy 2 tickets, they may not be the same.

Thank you for all that information.  I personally will avoid booking through Fly2Fun in the future because of the problems I had in April and how stressful it was.  The good news is that the flights themselves went just fine.  It was all the issues leading up to them that I didn’t care for.

Fly2fun seats typically are not assigned until close to the fly date.  You can pay a deviation fee and get them assigned at time of booking (or book a higher priced flight to get the seats assigned when you book).  For future reference a good TA would have been able to tell you this.

F2F experience here ... you should have received an email with an attachment that includes your locator number.  You should be able to use the locator number to see your flight on the airline website; HOWEVER, most airlines will not allow you to upgrade your seats until your flight is actually ticketed (normally 14-30 days prior to leaving).  I do know that Delta will allow you to select and change your seat selections prior to that time.

I too am trying to book tickets to London next year and finding this thread interesting.  We flew from US through London to Barcelona last year through Celebrity.  We were able to book Bus. Class through Celebrity 9 months in advance and even select our seats both on American and United.  Price was amazing for bus. class.  Decided to try Fly2Fun, thinking similar experience . . . so far NOT!  Spent an hour last week with them (three different transfers to their Bus, Class specialist--she advises nothing can be booked but economy and couldn't even give me a phone number to their department to call them back once I decided.  And, price was same as I could book on line myself.  Thinking Fly2Fun is a bad idea unless someone can convince me otherwise.  Thanks for the vent and any other info that appears on this thread.

I know that’s how it’s supposed to work, but I never got the email with the attachment until about 2 weeks before my cruise, after many many calls to Fly2Fun.  I wasn’t even concerned about upgrading or selecting my seat—I just wanted to know I had a flight home.

You should have gotten one as soon as you booked and then another when it was ticketed.  Just like everything else Carnival, YMMV.

If anyone is actually interest, here is a link that describes how Cruise Line or consoldator tickets work.

The original post is old, but still valid today.

This is not designed to avoid Cruise Line air travel at all costs, you can save BIG sometimes, it is only for information so one can make an educated decision and know what the possibilities are. Bottom line out of pocket cost should not be the make/break decision point.

Going on the Celebration maiden voyage on Nov 6 2022 as well.  Used Fly2Fun back in January.  Even  though it's not unusual,  these flights are not round trip flights.  In fact, they are considered, by the airlines, two departure/one way flights.

In our case the flight going to London was paid to Carnival in January and ticketed in March but our return flight was never ticketed.  We had to call and talk to Carnival resolution people twice.  But all was fixed within 5 days.
