After dinner, we did two things.

The Naughty Trivia was a lot of fun.

The Red Party.

It was a little disappointing.  The music wasn’t loud enough or the acoustics didn’t work.  But also as you can see, not well attended.  Good idea, but didn’t work.  It might have worked better last leg, but i don’t think they had it.

Weatherwise, Halifax is the worst of the trip.  Its been a constant rain since i left the car rental.

Here is our chariot.  Not the Camaro from Boston, but ya know, I like this better.  Better visibility and boy do we need it.

Peggy’s Cove is about an hour away.  I thought it was only 20 minutes, but it was 20 MILES.  The roads are tiny and with the rain, its a bit treacherous, but we made it.

Question for you. How and where do you get early tender tickets for Bar Harbor?

Thanks

i seriously lucked out.  There were two times to get tickets.  I was not aware of the first time which took place the day before.  I woke up at 6:30am to get in line to get tickets day of and they had #1 available surprisingly.  It was in front of the MDR on deck 4.  One of my cruise compass had the announcement.

Thanks, just didnt know if you could get them the night before somewhere, or if the concierge in the Diamond Lounge had them in advance. It is only a morning of thing?

I totally missed it in the cruise compass on day 3.  Oh well.  Even after all this time, the cruise compass is important.

I know you have VOOM, but I'm curious if you are picking up cell service off Nova Scotia?

Hello,

I’m onboard this cruise and have been following along to the OP’s adventures and thought I’d toss in my 2 cents. I purchased an esim subscription for Google-Fi on my iPhone and had coverage most of yesterday as we sailed fairly close to Nova Scotia. It wasn’t 5g, but to my surprise it was usable most of the day.

This is new to me.  What was the cost of this?

I purchased an eSIM from GlobaleSIM.app for my transatlantic.  The cost was $18 for a 21 day, 5GB data plan.

The day prior to Bar Harbor starting at 6. The line started in the theater and snaked through the casino. When we saw that we decided we’d stay onboard and enjoy the empty ship!

At some point, tender tickets stop being necessary.  Hence the reason why i spaced on it.  If you have a royal excursion, you do not need one.  Your excursion ticket is your tender ticket.  If you don’t care when you get ashore, you also don’t need it as they will at some point stop calling them and allow anyone who wants to go ashore to do so.  Its solely to keep the debarkation process for the first 2 hours or so manageable.

I heard about the long line from my tablemates.  I did not expect to get group 1.  It all worked out and I know for next time now.

After Peggy’s Cove, we found this place for lunch.

Its about two miles away from Peggy’s Cove in Indian Harbour.

I succeeded in my quest to find Donair with the   Donaitor Pizza. Delicious find.

Although I did not get a picture, my wife discovered it is possible to get a gluten free Fish and Chips that tasted amazing.  In fact this restaurant excels in gluten free offerings.

Dessert is the sea salt caramel chocolate

pate’ also gluten free.

My search for a Beaver Tail unfortunately ended in failure.

No reason given for closure.  I didn’t have reliable data or I would have found their store page on fb which told me they were closed due to rain.  Could not find anywhere else to find beaver tails so this is a failure.

It may not look like it in the photos, but it has been a downpour all day.

One thing I should note.

Canada seemed to be much more affordable.  Especially taking into account the exchange rate between US and Canadian dollar.

I was consistently spending more or less 100 bucks for lunch in the US for two.  (Boston, Bar Harbor and Portland) but in Canada, it was closer to 65 dollars… Canadian. 47.30 USD

The Poutine i got in St. John was 13.00 which is the same price as a great poutine place near me.  But st. John was in Canadian dollar which would translate to 9.46 USD making the cheapest best poutine i’ve had.  Also, it was easily larger than the place at home.

As of this writing, I would highly suggest obtaining Canadian dollars to visit.  In the past, everything felt expensive until you take into account the current 1:1.37 USD to CAD ratio.  Most of the tourist places will take your cash without saying anything about the exchange rate.

Driving in today’s rain through unfamiliar roads took a lot out of me.  I passed out after drying off.

I thought the show was at 7 so i woke up and went down to get seats.  I was wrong.

So I just hung out in the Viking Crown aka Blue Room.l until dinner.  It will always be the Viking Crown to me.

Dinner menu

Shrimp and potato salad.

Caprese Salad.  They don’t have nearly as much fresh mozzarella as they used to.

And of course, there’s a lobster night.

This was a good show and ending it with Bruno Mars Just the way you are.  He nailed it. This is my wedding song to my wife so it hit hard.
