It might depend on the specific cruise, but plan on the first sea day.

And the last sea day or next to last night unless you have a late port call or a holiday.

You can see which nights are scheduled as formal nights in the Journey View activities timeline in the app. Every evening will show either “casual” or “formal” portraits. I’ve seen it populate as much as a couple of months before a cruise

What is your itinerary and length of cruise? I see 4 different itineraries on the Princess site.  Formal night is usually the first sea day. The 2nd would be a sea day toward the end of the trip, but never the last evening. Holiday cruises may be different.

On my upcoming 4 day Discovery in December, my booking says no formal nights.

If it's on the discovery 7 nights formal nights are Sunday and Thursday.

Never say never...

On my  Sept 24th 3 night cruise, we had both a formal night that was only listed in the Patter, AND there was a first night specialty dinner for suites.

Anything is possible.

On my 3-night coastal on Royal in September, they listed a formal night in the Patter, which was a surprise, and they had photographers out everywhere, as on a regular formal night. I suspect it's just a way to allow those who want to dress up to do so, and more importantly, a way for them to get more photo income.

From someone on the Discovery now, formal nights are Sundays and Thursdays
