Seashells Wanted in San Juan, Tortola or St Kitts

You might not be allowed to bring them back onto the ship, due to possible contamination.  There is frequently a note on the daily schedule and at the gangway to that effect, and I have seen piles of confiscated shells near the dock.

You also might not be permitted to take them from beaches in the first place. Many areas have rules to prevent their beaches being picked clean by the thousands of tourists.

PLEASE do not disturb natural features.

Most importantly, it’s the tiny “hitchhikers” you can’t see that can be devastating to a region in your chime country that has a large agricultural economy.

Yes, most of these countries that prohibit shell taking, require that all shells sold in stores be boiled to remove any minute traces of biologic material.
