Specialty steak house questions

We've only eaten in the steak house a few times when it was a  complimentary promotional perk. On our Feb. cruise on the Ruby we'll have enough obc to cover to a dinner for 2 in one of the specialty restaurants, even after gratuities are paid. I've read we need to book early because they're so popular. If I book now, will I be charged, but at some point the obc will kick in & cover it? Any info & input appreciated.                 Just occurred to me can obc also be used for medallion net? Thanks! 😊

I don't know if you can change the payment after the cruise, but I have never had trouble getting a reservation at the specialty dining after boarding (just go or call the first day) & you can only use OBC for medallion net if you purchase after boarding which may be more expensive (I did it in the app after boarding but before sailing & got the pre cruise discount, but don't know if that would be true for everyone/every ship)

If you book it now you will have to pay for it. You can't change it to OBC later. Just wait until you board and book it then. If you book the first day there should not be an issue.

Visit the restaurant the first afternoon and book, that was always my choice. You can also call the dining line if you can get through.

we will try to book UBD (ultimate balcony dining) upon boarding to use some OBC.  if we can't book that, we will try to book a couple of specialty dining nights ... roll the dice on availability once on board instead of pre-booking and charging to card.

If you book 1 phone internet before cruise it is $10/day.  On board is $15/day.

  Never had a problem booking onboard the ships. But if you want to be able to take advantage of your onboard credits, a very easy way is to go to the casino and request chips  in the amount that you want in cash plus five dollars. Then play one hand and cash out. You will have the credit in the form of cash.
