They do, actually. Although I haven’t noticed anyone checking.

For the Himalayan Bridge course, do you know what type of shoes are required? Do they require close-toed shoes?

So I’m going to amend my original answer to say that personnel were, in fact monitoring footwear today. From the looks of it (precarious), I’d definitely go with sneakers.

Rounding out the afternoon we made our way back to the sport complex to do our final simulation in the fighter jet. For this sim you can trade off control (if flying with a companion). No trade off for me though. I kept my eyes closed the whole time while DH spun us into areal donuts and tailspins. Eyes closed I managed to ward off the nausea. Afterward, we spent our bonus $ from the sim package in the arcade. All interactive games are $2 while air hockey is $4.50. I lost both rounds of air hockey but felt good about myself because I managed to work up a sweat.

Afterward we ventured over to the water park to give the slides a whirl. Upon signing away any liability to MSC we learned the slides were closed for maintenance. Not sure why that couldn’t have been done while we were at the island but no worries, we made our way to the pool bar for a Peña colada with a cptn Morgan topper. That took just long enough for slide maintenance to conclude. Tubes In hand, water sliding commenced. There are 3 slides, two of which require tubes. The third is a body slide that finishes in a funnel that whirls you about just enough to obtain a mild concussion before exiting. Now I know why they made us sign a waiver… or maybe my 50-something y/o self just doesn’t need to be doing the toilet bowl flush slide 😂. Bumps and bruises aside, we had a blast!  Water park tip: if you forget to bring a towel with you to the water park you can duck into the Aurea area just around the corner and pick one up.

After loading everything we possibly could into a single afternoon, I made my way back to our room to pack and get ready for dinner while DH chilled in our cabana. As is our custom, I gave our cabin steward the night off by putting on the “do not disturb” light…just too much disarray about the room to put them to bother. I also collected my tip money for our two very awesome deck attendants:  Irish from the Philippines and Romeo. Both were fabulous!

The only thing disappointing about our last night is that it was our last night 😞. Dinner was amazing and once again, so was the service.

On our final ship walk about before going to bed we happened upon the silent disco party on the deck 6 promenade. There was a table where you could check out head phones so DH and I got in line. Turns out you needed your cruise card to participate…wristbands only were a no go. So we skipped the silent disco party and gave the casino a whirl instead. In the casino I racked up enough players points to warrant 30% off our next cruise plus a $75 OBC. The voucher was on our door when we left this morning.

To say we enjoyed our cruise immensely doesn’t really articulate the fabulous time we had. I think anyone on the fence about MSC stands more to lose for not giving them a try than they do for trying them on for size. Were there a few hiccups?  Of course. But we’re pretty easy going and what’s not to love when on vacation…

I’m going to wrap up with a few random tips:

1.  Bring a standard household extension cord (two prong) if you like having your phone next to the bed when you sleep. There are no charging ports bedside.

2.  You have to be out of your room by 8 am. We put our luggage out the night before and we don’t usually do that bc most of the time we have a flight to catch. My suggestion is to do express walk off even if you’re not on a time crunch. That way you can leave at your leisure instead of waiting until all the luggage is grouped in the warehouse. We were ready to go but we’re delayed by the luggage issue.

3.  Port Canaveral parking deck at pier 10 currently has only 1 working elevator. We had to park on the third level due to repaving so we walked up the parking ramps with luggage in tow instead of waiting for the single elevator. It took longer to get out of the parking area and on 95 than it did to get off the ship and clear the terminal.

Back to reality and home to Pipercat and Jane. Safe travels everyone!

Thanks, @Georgia_Peaches, for a wonderful review! I won't be in YC, but I'm sharing a 4 night Meraviglia cruise with several family members (in separate cabins) in January. I've got probably one of the best non-YC seats on the ship - Wake balcony 14268, top dead center aft - (if you like that sort of thing) all to myself.

As for food, last December DW and I did a Divina, and I love, Love, LOVED the Burrata Caprese on that trip!

I understand sometimes MSC has a white party where everyone wears white.  Did they do that one night on this cruise?  I don't want to pack for it if I don't have to.  Thanks!

Yes, there was a white night party combined with silent disco and also a Flower Power night as well, which was a throw back to the 70's disco era.

What a great review.  Thanks ever so much.  Nice hit on the slot, too.

Awe thank you!  It was my pleasure.  As for the slot thing, I have to say Mera's casino was good to me this trip.  I gave most of it back...but always fun to plan on their dime!

Loved reading your review! One question about internet, we have the “browse” internet on our cruise in December. I think I remember reading somewhere that sites like Netflix are blocked. Do you know if this is the case? If so, is there a way to upgrade the internet? This will be our first MSC cruise.

Thank you for the compliment. I’m not sure Netflix is blocked as much as the signal strength just isn’t strong enough to support streaming. You can upgrade to a streaming package but YMMV. I had no problems with the included wifi and was able to stream music from YouTube with no problem. I didn’t try Netflix.
