Add princess plus, but remove discounts?

Hi all,

On the website I see an offer to add Princess Plus for 50 bucks pp, but when I called the rep said that they had to remove our discounted casino reservation to apply it.   Anyone heard of such a thing?  The lady on the phone says that her system only let's her apply one code and she has to remove the reservation discount.  When we did that it added 700 extra dollars to the cost of the plus upgrade.

Any tips?  This is for 15 day Panama, leaving Dec 18 on Emerald.  Thanks so much!

Isn't there a dedicated Casino line? I thought for sure I've seen it mentioned here. The general "run of the mill" Princess agent usually has absolutely no clue about almost everything. Adding in the complexity of a Casino Rate would likely cause them to lose what little mind they have. Hopefully someone will chime in with the correct number. (I kind of had the impression you could just ask for the casino department but, since I don't get these offers, I'm not a good person for actual knowledge of how this stuff works.)

We’ve gotten a casino discount (not comped) as had the plus package added to it after the booking for the room was made.  Either the future cruise consultant onboard or our PVP has added it at $50 a day pp while completing the booking.
We’ve even noticed that there is an option to add it on your personalizer (web based, not the app) as your cruise gets closer.  I’ve used that option to upgrade to the premier package on a couple bookings for $25 a day more pp.  It also ups your Princess Vacation insurance cost a bit if your purchased it with you cruise.

Princess Vacation Planner - sort of one (big) step up from the random people at the call center.

OP: I take it that you weren’t able to just add the package to your reservation using the online flow?

I was not.  It lists the offer but then says to call your travel advisor.  I will call the line today to see if they can do somethjng different from the main line.

You either get a comped cruise free w/o PP OR a discounted cruise with PP.. nonone gets both a free cruise and PP at the same time.. that's too much of a promo and casino would lose money if they offered stacked promos like that.

Mine isn't a full comp, just a discounted rate.   The lady on the phone said there was one field for the PP code or the casino rate code and she couldn't do both.

How did you get a comped cruise AND PP on top? I just said that'd impossible, there is no value to the casino on that.

Think about it from their perspective giving away $5000 worth of a free cruise and another $700 worth of PP + OBC + casino freeplay. You'll have to spend $20k in the casino to ever be invited again, that's the bad part of having such great offers if you don't play enough you'll never requalify, better to have lesser offers so it's easier to re qualify.

It's not impossible.  I have booked comped casino offers that are cabin only and have paid to add Princess Plus at the quoted rate of $50 PP per day (previously $40).  And once again, have you actually tried to add Plus to a comped reservation or are you speculating?

Yes,  we were told that it cannot be applied to casino or other such discounted offers.

OK, I called the vacation planner line.

It seems correct that on the back end they use these "codes" to upgrade you.  The vacation planner spent a lot of time trying to find a code and was unable.  They then got a supervisor involved and were able to add the Princess Plus and "re-rate" the addition.  This actually turned out to only be 1100 more for a 15 day trip which is an amazing deal.

Moral of the story is to never call the main line.

Did you book this directly with Princess or with a TA? I'm having an issue similar to this right now wanting to upgrade from the already paid for Plus to Premier.  Princess says this can be done for $25 a day or $750 total for 2 in my case but they can't do it because I used a TA.  TA told me the upgrade would cost $2700. This is a casino code booking also.

I'm guessing this should be the last time you use that particular TA.

I was able to add princess plus to several bookings before they added the tab on the landing page.

I didn't lose my rate, on-board credit or casino cash.  Casino cash is also a code, so they CAN do it, I'm just not sure how.  2 separate TA's were able to do this for 2 different cruises for 2 different rooms.  It was a matter of getting the right person.

That said, this was just my experience and as we know, things can change.

Hope you can get what you want.
