I'm going to ask when everything quiets down. It's foggy, but not that cold so I'm surprised it isn't an option.

Itll be a wee bit sad to not see Lady Liberty on the way out. But, perhaps the fog will create haunting memories of the city like this one my husband captured.

Soooooo...I was wrong. Unlike previous concierges (Ruel, Omar, and Ivan), Alex just didn't mention American Diner. All good though, it's open!

 

 

We tried it out since, well it's a cruise and we're supposed to eat a lot? Right!? I did only have water and hot tea to drink.

Before a nice American Diner meal, we tried out the hot tub at Spice H2O. It was quiet, empty and lovely. We had a few looks from people decked out in their furry coats.

 

 

We just met our room steward, Ruby, who seems wonderful. She knew our previous steward Agus and told us he's on vacation for a few more weeks. Then they switch.

Here's my cattiness. This guy really needs a Canada Goose jacket when it's 50 degrees? Also, this many carry on for two people? Some people just wow me! Eh, to each their own, right?

We just got off the Getaway.

Try and stop by the sugar cane bar and say hi to Deserie.  Out of many cruises, she is the nicest, most above and beyond staff member we’ve met.  We stopped by each evening for a drink and to chat.

 

Also while entertainment was sparse some nights, be sure to stop by and see Zennhitt band (they are amazing) and Broadway Unplugged.

 

Have an amazing cruise, happy new year.

LOL, my wife and I always wheel our carry on's I also have a small back pack along with our checked luggage. 

 

Don't forget they might have flown in from someplace very cold

Made it to the Haven hot tub! I have the Courtyard to myself.

Oh no...does this mean July is on vacation? I must get there today or tomorrow to see if he's there. Ill definitely make friends with Deserie though! Sugarcane is my favorite bar...well the outside part! 

 

Thank you for the recommendations! We signed up for Broadway Unplugged. I've seen it before and love, love, love it! I haven't seen Zennhitt Band yet.

I equally love the outside part of the Sugarcane bar.  July is a terrific bartender and fun person.  We cruised with him in late September and he made our hurricane-diverted trip pretty great nonetheless. 

 

When we were with him, he said he was leaving the Getaway for another ship...forgot which one though...

As we passed through throngs of happy merry maker's, like throngs, we wandered by Taste or Savor. I forgot which one. It's on the port side if that helps. 

 

Wondering what the main dining room is serving tonight, we took a look as a few merry makers bumped into us. There's loads of people on this ship. My husband remarked to me that he wants September back. There were 1,200 passengers on board. Sorry darling, were in the big time for this New Year's cruise.

I think we're going to stick with the Haven this evening as nothing really shouts out to me.

Any information regarding bands/entertainment would be appreciated. There are postings saying the Getaway currently has very limited entertainment. The show Junk’d and Syd Normans Pourhouse no longer appear as entertainment options for our cruise (1/20). A prior passenger has commented that Syd Normans does not have the traditional rock n roll show-only karaoke at night. This would bring me great sadness if true. Thanks….Happy New Year.  (I’m a Syracuse area fella, but know Utica well.)

I AM SO JEALOUS!!!!!

Thank you for taking the time to post. Really interested in your thoughts on the open-roofed Haven area. As far as we can tell, that and the Haven restaurant not having an open seating area like the other breakaway (or is it breakaway-plus) ships, is the only downside. We love a covered pool so that we can enjoy the water in inclement weather.
