I agree with the last post related to Syds, hire a cover band, like they use to, until Syds returns.  RCL has tons of rotating cover bands, that perform in the music hall.  As for late night food on NCL, you have O sheehans or room service.  As for RCL or Celebrity, you have pizza or scraps in the buffett/room service, not even close to O'Sheehans.

my hero 🦹

I am ever so grateful for your help....OMG I am going to take it too far now though and you are going to tell me to take a flying leap...so when you are back in your cabin, (aft penthouse; right?) can you take a picture of the inside of the closet in the living area. My son will be with us and I wanted to know if it was full length or cubbies or 1/2 and 1/2.  I have been trying to find a video on youtube or a picture somewhere for the last (well I don't even want to say how long...too long for this type thing)

Its perfectly alright to tell me to p*** off.

Hahaha I wouldn't tell you that! It just takes me a bit. Here's our messy living area closet.

Question about getting food later. I haven't cruised since 2019, but when I did there was often a small buffet set up in the casino later in the evening. It was basic stuff -- wings, chicken tenders, veggies, cheese & crackers. I was wondering if that is still happening.

I'm really enjoying following along with you!

The official letter. In September, Bermuda we received a $50 non-refundable onboard credit. This time, $75 per person. I wonder if Bermuda's port fees and taxes changed for 2023 or NCL just enjoys yanking chains. I'd lean toward yanking chains.

Lots of folks onboard whining about the port change. I get it. It sucks. I wanted to go to Bermuda too. A few have claimed they will seek recourse with their credit card companies as they don't dee the $75 per person as adequate compensation.

Me? I'm thanking Frankie boy, in his infinite wisdom, for the $75 greenbacks. NCL doesn't have to give anything back. In April, I received nothing for a canceled port. Two out of three cruises receiving compensation makes me wonder if I could win the lottery if I play!

Bottom line, we all signed a contract that NCL could change anything they want, add sawdust to the pizza crust (I think they do, kidding...maybe), and boot us offboard if we misbehave.

Ahh! Let's raise a cup of cheer to Frankie boy and his Miami mansion.

Thank you. Much appreciated. If, at the Meet and Greet, they gave you a card with the names of the Hotel Department officers, would you please post that as well?  Thanks and enjoy the rest of your cruise.

They did not. I'll be taking a photo of the officer board next time I'm by the box office.

Hope you are enjoying your cruise.

the reason why we still arrived on time last week despite the 12 hour delay was that we had 2 sea days scheduled.  By leaving at 6am we still had 2 full days and nights at sea and just lost out on 12 hours, with it only taking a day and a half or so to get from nyc to Orlando.

Have you seen Desire at sugarcane yet?  She truly is such an above and beyond crew member.

curious how your cruise goes but for us the entertainment is what lacked.  Aside from the comedians, we had a magician and the 2 production shows.  There were 5 nights of no professional entertainment over an expensive holiday sailing aside from live music.

and while zennhitt band was amazing, the live music was as severely lacking.  Prior ncl cruises and current rcl cruises have 2-3 duos, 3 full bands and a couple of soloists/pianists.  This ship has one band and 2 duos.  About half the live music a ship this full of this size should have had.  And without syds, ncl should have made up with an additional band or show.

Thank you for this! I appreciate knowing how they made it so fast (or not) on your cruise. I didn't realize there were two sea days on your itinerary. I will rescind my snarky comments!

We did see Desirel! I know, I was surprised to see the L too. I haven't yet had a chance to ask her how to pronunciate her name. I hate saying crew names wrong.

She is wonderful! I love how forward she is and she knows if someone just wants a drink, or a chat. Ill take that forward approach over fakey nice any day. I think it's the NY in me, even if I am a Central NY'er.

Thank you for telling me about her!

As for entertainment, I honestly don't pay a lot of attention. There are two comedians, a magician (I won't be partaking), Zennhitt Band, El Sol, Lucky Shore Duo, Bill, and DJ's.

Plus, Burn the Floor (I'm passing on that), Broadway Unplugged, Million Dollar Quartet, and a singer in the theater (Sonia Selbie).

That seems like a lot to me, but I'm not used to looking through the entertainment. The last two cruises on Getaway this year. I've only seen Broadway Unplugged and Million Dollar Quarter. Honestly. I watched Million Dollar, because...well, umm...the guy that played Jimmy Lee Curtis (is that the right name) is cute. I'm very sad JP's not onboard this cruise. Don't worry yall, I'm happily married and not a creep. I didn't go stalk his Instagram or anything. 😬

I'm pretty sure it's not Jimmy Lee Curtis. I can't remember the crazy piano players name. He just recently died too, I think. The real guy, not the actor.

Did you mean Jerry Lee Lewis?

Really enjoying your live reports.  Sorry about Bermuda.  One thing that seems really strange to me is that the Getaway doesn't appear to have a covered Haven Courtyard.  This really doesn't make much sense for a ship sailing from the Northeast during the winter months.

Have you found that it impacts your use and enjoyment of the CY area?

I remember when they BA and GA were being built. NCL said since the GA's Haven courtyard did not have a roof the ship would only be sailing in warmer climates.

Well, obviously they didn't hold to that.  LOL!  I don't think it was a good idea to not have a roof either way.  Even in warm climates there's rain or really hot days.  That's when an enclosed area would come in handy.  To spend all that money for the Haven and then have it be unusable definitely doesn't make sense.

Jimmy Lee Curtis? 😂 You're adorable. Is he Jamie Lee Curtis' talented son?

@goldmom is correct...Jerry Lee Lewis. He recorded a great rendition of Great Balls of Fire.

Thank you for your informative and entertaining posts. Fingers and toes crossed for a Syd Norman's revival. I will be sailing on the Getaway in February and was looking forward to standing in the long queue and fighting my way in. It's not a fulfilling cruise for me otherwise.

Good morning Cruise Critic!

Terrible photo, but Mimosa in hand for the Space X rocket launch at 9:56 AM.

Looking on NASA area now.

That would have been worth the stop in Port Canaveral to me!

I was right where you are back in March last year - saw a rocket launch from Haven deck, front row rail.  Kind of priceless and definitely awesome (esp with drink service!!)

Today has been a lazy day. We had breakfast, watched the rocket launch, then headed to the thermal suite for a couple of hours. We just got back from lunch and are enjoying the last of the cell data until the 8th.

I did Spice lunch up with a Mai Tai. Moderno this evening!

It was such a grand view! And yes, most definitely worth the extra day in Port Canaveral!
