Edge vs Apex Retreat

So just returned from our first Celebrity cruise on the Beyond in the Retreat. Loved it. Looking at booking a sailing on either Edge or Apex. 
I asked and someone said the Edge sun deck does not have any umbrellas? Is this so? We spent quite a bit of time on the sun deck on the Beyond and it was hot at times and fortunately we were under an umbrella. 
anyone know about this?

if you had to choose between apex and edge in the retreat which would you choose and why?

Apex had some umbrellas.  None on the Edge when we were there. I didn’t spend much time on the sun Deck on the due to lack of shade.  
 

Having been on all 3 the Beyond is the best.

We have sailed on Edge and Apex. The Retreat lounge on Apex is superior due to the presence of the lounge bar with better service both walk-up and waitstaff.

I really disliked all the umbrellas in beyond retreat hard to find a chair with sun. Liked edge , have yet to do apex.

On the Apex Retreat deck, we found the nice couchs along the wall were well shaded and a great place to camp out and read/relax/nap. Hopefully Edge is similar.

Interesting, one of the things we disliked about Edge retest was the lack of shade😂.
 

Appreciated the bit more on Apex but still tough to find shade unless you get there early.

Could you not ask an attendant to put the umbrella down while you were laying there? I can't imagine they are permanently in an open position as they would need to take them down on very windy/stormy days.

They added umbrellas to the Edge retreat deck…however they were closed usually when we were at sea on our Greece itinerary this past September.

There were plenty of shade options in the Retreat on Edge last month, whether umbrellas or pergolas.
