Yes you can get it anywhere. Cruise or no cruise.  There are continuous comments here on CC about people getting infected on cruises despite masking and boosters.  Why is that a surprise these days?  We traveled and cruised over a two week period in January.  We had boosters, no masks at all.  We never caught COVID.  Probably just lucky?  The point is to just do what you can do for your own situations.  And enjoy cruising.

Thank you!! I'm fully vaxxed and triple boosted and have not been on a cruise since May. I STILL got it in January! It happens.

And the vaccines never said they would 100% prevent someone getting it. The point is that if/when you DO get it, your symptoms are much more likely to be mild.

Hi all. I'm currently on Silhouette 9 day cruise. I woke up ill on day 6 and tested positive for covid. I notified guest services and quarantined immediately. I am a paranoid respiratory therapist and masked most places except dining and outside. There is little masking during this cruise but lots of coughing. I worked with scores of covid cases and managed to avoid covid up till now. IMHO, cruising is high risk. I'm vax'd and boosted. Symptoms have been very mild, sore throat and mild headache alleviated with Tylenol. Is cruising worth risk for me?  I think so because I love cruising and trust in vaccinations- but would be totally devastated to expose someone who could suffer and possibly die. I wish everyone who is symptomatic would mask up. Thank goodness covid is much less virulent then it was in 2021. It is getting much better but we still are treating plenty of covid in hospital . Oh yes- crew has been just amazing. Calling and checking our needs. So far hubby tested negative twice and he goes about ship (masked only). Any questions?

Hi I hope you are doing better now. I was wondering if you are able to quarantine in your own (original) cabin or have they moved you.

We were on the Reflection January 29-February 5.  We wore masks in airports, planes, and public places on the ship, especially elevators,  casino, theatre, and busy areas.  We ate breakfast and lunch at the OVC outside.  We ate dinner in the MDR and sat with our son and his wife.  Off the ship we wore masks in all the shops.  We were definitely in the minority.

Our son and daughter-in-law never put on a mask.

No Covid for any of us.

Very few crew wore masks.

Pretty much the only time I even THINK about covid is when I'm reading cruise critic.

I got covid on the Apex.  Sailed b/2/b December and January.  It is still on board. We will be sailing again on Celebrity soon.  I am fully vaccinated, but will wear a mask in crowded venues- especially the elevators.

Also we were on the Oasis in August and many people reported covid after the cruise.  Saw on the blogs.

Thanks!

Sailed RF for 11 nights in September and wore masks leaving Canada right to boarding the ship. Onboard we stopped wearing them and on day 6 my husband self tested and was positive and I a day later. He had fatigue and sweats and I had fatigue and fever. Very slight coughs from either of us (triple vaxxed). We think we may have picked it up on a tour where one lady was almost green from coughing. Anyway - we self-isolated for three days and overall we concluded that we've had stomach flu's that were worse.

Did a B2B on SL in January and not a hitch - perfect health from start to finish. We did hear from some staff that there were cases on board but that's it - no idea of numbers etc. We heard some sneezes and some coughing but nothing out of the ordinary. Our flights were relatively quiet as well.

My point earlier was take precautions that are right for you and live your life. Be respectful of others and if you have symptoms, test and take appropriate actions to protect yourself and others and live your life. It can happen anywhere, not just on a cruise ship. We were on a March 2020 sailing (the last to leave Ft. Lauderdale before the shut down) and several sailings post re-start and were fine. I got it at home and have no clue where. It can happen.

I will add to this. We did 3 cruises during Covid. Last one in July. We wore masks when others didn’t. No theatre or bigger gatherings. Took stairs…but did some bus excursions. Careful where we ate…often outside. Took every vaccine precaution and tested neg each cruise. Amazing! However…husband, myself, daughter and 2 of her 3 kids just had our first bout…all within 2 days. We did not get it from or share ours with daughter’s family. Too many days between. We think our church service was likely. We blame no one…not God!!..Hey… It was our time…we were overdue! Thankful we are well again after much congestion. Just saying…you go out and live at this point. Even cruise…we are in 2 wks again! 😎
