Awful State of Ocean View Cafe for dinner

The reality is everyone wants a terrific vacation.  Anyone that prepaid thought it would be on Celebrity.  And, others may need to find alternatives.   

 

There have been cutbacks, zero official explanation or transparency, reports of stalking by crew due to odd incentives and poor oversight, and a lack of common sense by Celebrity (e.g., using the phrase Pork and Beans on a menu, bologna bar, poor crew and space utilization, allowing this thread and other complaints to fester, and so on).

 

As stated above, experiences and evidence from post 1/1/2023 sail dates is key.  The video speaks for itself, as do first hand accounts, and criticisms of what's seen vs what most on here know it's replaced and have experienced first hand on their own sailings or what was expected on an upcoming prepaid trip. The rollout criticisms are also valid in my view, and are as or more distrubring due to what they reveal.   

 

(We also have read other reports on this website that are troubling / reprehensible, and indicate a lack of management attention to detail, and possibly indifference to the customer experience.  Enough seem specific to Apex to suggest there needs to be a senior crew and hospitality audit and remediation when needed, if the company cares).  

 

For those who are questioning or influenced by attacks on the video:

 

The Traveling Gamblers have very little incentive to be misleading, or offer editorial that is critical.  Quite the opposite.  Per their own postings and videos:  They cruise on casino comps through Blue Chip, and frequently on Celebrity (probably in the past several years more than most or all posting here). They have posted since, including a longer video of their Apex sailing (you can view it for yourself and reach your own conclusions).  Sadly they also have said that they will be pausing from scheduled cruising for health reasons (discussed in a video posted after the dinner OVC video, and from the same time period), so cut them some slack. They didn't have to post, and it's probably been a fun activity for them like providing a live post on here.  That they share their journeys on YouTube vs Cruise Critic should not matter.  

 

Cruising, and any prepaid expenditure for services, is unlike any other purchase.  Vacation time is often precious, and we all don't want to waste it.  So, info is critical. 

 

In closing, props to the Traveling Gamblers for their videos, and to everyone sharing their views.

I AM a shareholder, and I am NOT happy. We sometimes go to the OV because it is late, or we took a nap or whatever. With another couple, we ordered a custom pizza. That was pretty good. DH likes a nice stirfry and I like a hot pasta. None of us wasted any of this. Actually, I like HOT food, and you often don't get that in the dining room. When they make it fresh, it is HOT!

Another reality is some of us read these threads, take note and consider them, then decide they want to stick with their next Celebrity booking and find out for themselves. I have seen a very small number of posts having a dig at the OP.

I am not a shareholder and am delirious. Maybe if you sold the shares you’d feel better 😁😁. Seriously though if I was a shareholder I’d be glad to see the company trying to work its way out of debt, surely that’s good for you? You may not like how they are doing it but the intent is in your favour.

I want stock in a company that can be relied on. They will wake up and smell the coffee, hopefully sooner rather than later.

davekathy provided the email as I was typing.   I think contacting Celebrity at lLutoff-Perlo@celebritycruises.com to let them know your thoughts is worth the effort.  After sending an email to that address with my very blunt assessment of Celebrity's actions, I got a very polite call back within two hours, and was encouraged to continue providing feedback so they could determine how best to proceed.

LLP contact info has been posted on so many threads here, I've lost count, but do not fret, I have a feeling your wish will soon come true on this very thread

and perhaps the officers.  I know on RCI they have removed the officers dining room unless for special occasions.  They motto is "everyone is equal".  Not sure if Celebrity still has dining for officers.

But from the video, the small area I saw while having even to satisfy me, I am betting officers and a lot of folks would not be happy.

Imagine RCI recruiters and HR getting calls from Celebrity officers asking "Can we move to RCI as we hear your buffet is better please"
