Anyone currently on the Radiance 1/30/23 sailing?

Recommended Posts

We are booked on the Radiance 2/27/23 sailing, our first time on her and first 10 day and two new ports so yes we are excited.  Our cruise planner shows the old menus but I was wondering if y'all have the new menus.  Cartagena and Colon are new to us and we have excursions booked but if anyone on this or the next few sailings have input or reviews of the ship or their excursions in those ports or anything we would love to hear it!  Enjoy your cruise!!

You can set the app to any sailing about 90 days out and possibly see the menu. The info gets more complete/accurate closer to sailing.

I was supposed to be on this one so in the roll call. I've seen some positive comments on new menus. Most had crispy fish. In the past mine has often been soggy, so I'd be happy if the new fish arrived to me crispy.

Luckily I also am booked march 27 so will still get these stops.

I am on the April 21 sailing going through the panama canal right now for Colon there are only 2 excursions, do you have more for your cruise?

Yes there were 3 that saw some of the locks plus something added on, monkey eco, panama city or portobela.. none just the locks. Plus of course the other stuff. I also booked the emerald museum in old town in Columbia.  We had plenty of excursions to book.

The one thru the locks you booked would be awesome, just didnt want the flying.

Screwed up and bought "Panama Canal & IMAX Experience" that doesn't even SEE the canal, ONLY the movie. Herded off the bus up to the 2nd floor theater and back down as soon as the credits roll and herded back onto the bus. NO opportunity to visit the Observation Deck or Gift Shop. TOTALLY boring "Canal Zone" tour of cemetery and former US outpost facilities that were converted to civilian use when President Peanut gave away the Canal Zone.

@GJusticedo you or anyone that was on a 10nt sailing have the entertainment/show schedule?  Our cruise planner does not show anything and we were wondering what shows there will be.

We just got off the Adventure yesterday and while on there were able to upgrade to a JS for our 2/27 sailing on the Radiance!!  We used a casino offer to book the original balcony and when we called they had to get approval to put us in the JS because it was cheaper than our balcony.  Didn't make sense to us but we were glad we were able to get it and a bonus to not have to pay more money.  Since we get double points we will turn Diamond Plus on this sailing, yay!!  We are home for 10 days and then on the Radiance.

I have the paper compasses, let me get the list from those. I can't remember them all.

You can also navigate to the current sailing to see their entertainment schedules as well 🙂 Hopefully the schedule that is taking place now is one that is correct hahaha But I'm guessing it won't be a 10 nt to show everything.....

"The Devil Went Down to Georgia" was one of many tunes.

Day 6

Passed on this one, but heard it was a pretty good show.

Day 7

Passed on both these

Day 8

If you enjoy (mostly) acapella singing, don't miss this one.

Day 9

image.png.ef744afe02e631b6f988e242ab4ef760.png

Passed on both these.

Day 10

Great show. If you've never seen the Egg Drop (on Centrum ships) it's a real treat.

Hope this helps. Let me know if you want to see anything else.

@GJustice  Thank you so much!!  Sounds like some great shows.  Did you eat at any of the specialty dining venues?  We bought the UDP for $211.99/pp we thought was a good price so now to figure out what reservations we want to make once onboard.

We ate at Samba since it's the next to last one in the fleet. Heard it's going away when Radiance is refurbished in 2024. Last one will be on Allure.

We were on the 1/30 radiance. Colon we did Panama City Tour and Canal Locks, we very much enjoyed this excursion. Cartagena we did the Deluxe Cartagena and Fortress excursion and enjoyed this as well. Cartagena watch out for the vendors, ignore or tell them no. Best shows were Lance Ringwald, Tango Buenos Aires and Nashville Tenors. Tango Buenos Aires is a must see. Specialty dining we very much enjoyed Giovanni, Chops was good too, Izumi was alright just not our type of food.

For your Colon tour was there time to explore on your own during the city tour and which locks did you go through?  Was it a long day?  Thank you for all the tips and information!

This was a 7-hour excursion, so it was a long day, but we wanted to see as much as possible while in port. The bus first took us to the Agua Clara Locks observation area. There were several buses here so lots of people other than our bus. There were 4 things at this stop, a movie, restrooms, gift shop and the observation area. We were able to watch an NCL ship coming thru the locks, use restroom, waste our time at the movie, and the line was too long at gift shop to purchase anything before we had to get back on bus. The bus then took us on a driving tour of the area, see bridges over the canal, and explaining canal history. We then headed to Panama City for a driving tour of city then got off bus for a walking tour seeing historical area of the city near and around the square. During the walk we did stop for a short while at a little gift shop. There was little or no time to explore on your own, but our guide kept us busy, and we saw and learned a lot about the city and country the entire time before heading back to the port. Personally, I think we made a wise choice with this excursion.

We are on the April 21 cruise.  Right now no real options for Colon.  Can you tell me if they were listed pre cruise or did you book on the cruise?  Were there more options once on the ship?

Also, was there starlink on the ship?  How was the internet?

Thank you

I believe the captain said they did have starlink, BUT the wireless gear inside is the original slow/flaky stuff, so only the internet cafe/business center computers had decent internet.
