teacherman Posted February 10, 2023 #1 Share Posted February 10, 2023 Just doing on-line check-in for our Anthem family cruise round-trip out of New Jersey on March 26. Now realize that our 2 granddaughters passports expired this month. They are ages 12 and 15. Are they allowed to use their birth certificates for check-in at the pier? It seems like one of the on-line choices is "Birth Certificate+No Photo Document Required". The 15 year old has an official Michigan driver permit with her photo on it. If you have used birth certificates recently, please advise us on what to do.

A U.S. Passport book is required for sailings that depart from homeports outside of the U.S.. For sailings departing from U.S. homeports, an official US state-issued Birth Certificate is also accepted. Guests age 16 and older that present an official US state-issued Birth Certificate will also need to provide a valid Driver’s License or picture ID issued by the government. They must be official docs from your state's vital records agency.
Scottdalfonso Posted February 10, 2023 #5 Share Posted February 10, 2023 Yep...just did it for the whole family 2 weeks ago. Had no issues, no extra lines...just check it off as the option on check in, and then follow the signs for birth certificates when you get off (if I recall, getting on didn't matter..just show it to whatever agent you get)

Many government agencies, and notaries, no longer use an embossed seal, as it does not show on faxes. They use inked stamps instead, and are just as acceptable.
