Ah, yes. They do have those upgraded pastries in Sabatini's. They have no resemblance in taste to the ones at the IC.

I agree with those who have said that the layer cakes have no flavour. They are basically all the same, just with different colours.

 

The doughnuts were also disappointing. They're quite dense, not light and fluffy.

 

The pastries and danishes were consistently good.

 

There was a nice lemon meringue custardy cheesecake that was quite nice too.

 

The chocolate cake available in the Medallion app was excellent.

 

But my favourite was the rotating selection of cupcakes. They did have good flavour, and the buttercream toppings were divine. The red velvet and chocolate chip versions were my top pick but the carrot cake and other variations were all lovely.

 

They had a dessert extravaganza in the buffet one afternoon. I didn't try anything but did manage to get a quick video of the selection.

Agreed, at least in my experience.  The IC donuts always looked appealing but disappointing taste...for me this goes back well before covid and is same now.

My reliable dessert every day is the little round cheesecake at IC. A different flavour every day, but always good.

They had the Cakes on Discovery (March 2024).    

 

They had 3 choices, Black Forrest, Carrot and Chocolate.

 

I had the chocolate cake and it was absolutely delicious......nothing like the MDR cakes or the IC desserts.   It was a chocolate lover's dream.   The cake wasn't that poofy stuff they serve in the MDR with fake tasting frosting.   My mouth is still watering over it.

Well, it's like what my wonderful deceased husband used to say:  money can't buy happiness, but it's just something one has to decide for themselves.......

 

Same with these desserts.

Carnival offers a few fancy cakes in the buffet.  In 8 days, I found one that was worth eating.
