swjumbo Posted April 23, 2023 #1 Share Posted April 23, 2023 We love watching YouTube videos about cruise lines, especially Celebrity and have just watched a new one about the Solstice going to Alaska. This has reminded us about one difference which really stood out. Tuscan Grill has been our favourite on all Solstice Class Celebrity ships but we found Tuscan very underwhelming on the Solstice and this was mentioned in the video too. Does anyone else agree? MarEll1 Posted April 23, 2023 #2 Share Posted April 23, 2023 We ate in Tuscan on Solstice 2 months ago and loved it. Food was great as was server and sommelier. Funny how different it can be different weeks or even different days on the same cruise.
Rare Georgia_Peaches Posted April 23, 2023 #3 Share Posted April 23, 2023 We dined in Tuscan twice back in March on Solstice. Service was fine and food was OK. Nothing wowed us but nothing was terrible either. DH ordered the dry-aged ribeye which was an upcharge. He wasn't impressed and said he could do better at home on his green egg. I reminded him that almost anything cooked on the Big Green Egg is better than what can be prepared in a mass kitchen set up on a cruise ship. If we hadn't been in a Royal Suite where specialty dining is included, we wouldn't have eaten in Tuscan at all...but the view from the back of the ship can't be beat! We have been disappointed with Tuscan on Solstice and on other ships as well. Murano is our first choice. But you cannot beat the view and wake in Tuscan.. phoenix_dream Posted April 23, 2023 #5 Share Posted April 23, 2023 We did a B2B on Solstice in March and due to being in a RS and having free specialty dining we ate in Tuscan 4 times. We thought it was great - very good food and excellent service. We enjoyed it much more than Murano on that ship, where our favorite Dover Sole was just not as good as on some other trips. We also prefer the variety in Tuscan. Murano, in our opinion, has a much more limited menu.
Jase0581 Posted April 24, 2023 #6 Share Posted April 24, 2023 I ate at the Tuscan on the Solstice in February and thought the food and service was great. We were also treated to a show of dolphins playing in the wake which helped. I didn't think it was as good as the Tuscan on the Silhouette, but that was pre-covid so I don't know if that played a part.
LaCal Posted April 25, 2023 #7 Share Posted April 25, 2023 (edited) We enjoyed Tuscan on the Solstice except for the Calamari which was very rubbery and chewy…..Ate one and left the rest Everything else was good to very good Edited April 25, 2023 by LaCal
MandL Posted April 26, 2023 #8 Share Posted April 26, 2023 We’ve cruised the Solstice four times over the last five months, and eaten in Tuscan each cruise. We’ve always preferred Tuscan over Murano on the Solstice class ships for its menu and location. Love to start with their charcuterie board. We typically have the swordfish, or a steak with pasta. The side pasta with lobster is very good. Last time we asked for just the filleted lobster without the pasta. No complaints here with Tuscan on the Solstice. balisong187 Posted April 26, 2023 #9 Share Posted April 26, 2023 We're on the Solstice right now and ate at Tuscan a couple nights ago. We were amazed at the 3 desserts we shared, the pistachio creme brulee, spumoni donuts, and fig gelato. Also the pork belly appetizer and garlic mashed potatoes side dish were terrific. The entrees were really nothing special though. Loved the aft view, and the service was great. So kind of a mixed bag for us. Trying Murano either tonight or tomorrow, don't remember which.
