Vloggers in the MDR

Back in the day when we had the "Midnight Buffet"...doors would actually open at 11:30 pm so people can take pictures of the food.

* The food arrangements/display looked better BEFORE being eaten.

* IMHO...it was nice, but so much food went to waste.

My answer would most be the same.    I thought it rather rude that a poster was trying to equate a food fascination to obesity.  Absurd.  The plates that I take a photo of are the same ones and size that anyone would get.  Does that imply we are all fat?

I also get a perverse pleasure out of sending my “food porn” to friends 😸

Sorry @slidergirl.  I think your answer was valid is all.  Sometimes the result of my wording isn't what was intended.  Probably why I won't be writing the next great American novel anytime soon.   Lol.

This is very interesting to me.  I am a GenX, who is obese, and take photos of my food.  I am also a vlogger-wannabe.  I just don't know why any of these things matter to anyone though😁 which is why this is interesting to me.🤷🏻‍♀️

Anyway, when I take photos, I don't use the flash, so it shouldn't bother anyone else..  I also don't return food or complain it's cold because I took too long (apparently people do that but not sure if it's true).  Their presentation is so pretty, and I like to share; I don't know if my FB friends are interested or not or whether they think I'm bragging, but people do tell me they appreciate seeing them (and there's no reason they should be insincere about it).  I am also a scrapbooker, so many of my photos go into my scrapbooks.

I'm a vlogger wannabe because it's something I share w/my daughter and for me to keep up with technology.  It's a stretch and a challenge for me, you know working the brain with new stuff (camera functions, speaking impromptu, increase eye for detail, etc.); however, I haven't vlogged on a cruise ship before, mostly because I feel like that would take away from my enjoyment of the cruise.

Let's see... GenX and obese... not sure why this matters... kind of feel that at my age, it should be a good thing that I'm trying different things as a human instead of not adapting to change.  And that weight has always been an issue for me, but that has nothing to do with whether I take photos of my food or vlog on a cruise.  I may have missed the point of that.

You know what bugs me in public?  People who let their infants, toddlers, and kids watch stuff on ipad or phone while eating and especially with the volume on!  I see this on airplanes, restaurants, etc.  Large groups of people in the MDR who talk and laugh extremely loudly constantly where smaller tables of people can't hear each other talk.

What about the people who have to photograph every course of every meal they eat?  Not disruptive but I do find it a bit annoying and certainly strange.

DON

People taking pictures of their food is fair less annoying than people taking selfies particularly if they are using selfie sticks.

So, you’re a wannabe vlogger, or as they call them now, content creator, but kids glued to their iPads and phones bug you?  Those 2 things go hand and hand. Dont take this wrong. I’m not trying to flame you. I just dont think people are realizing how much the tik tok obsession is hurting society - in many ways.

I see what you're saying.  I totally get the problem w/tiktok/reels obsession. I had to "hide" reels from FB because it was sucking up all my time.  And I've told people not to send me stuff to watch because then the next reel comes on and I'm stuck.

I think what actually bugs me about kids watching stuff while eating is that I feel like parents need to engage w/their kids instead of making it easy for themselves... like why does a 15 month old need to watch a show on iphone?  BUT it's worse when they have the volume on - i don't need to hear it.  Not sure if I agree they go hand in hand.  My husband and I watch vloggers in lieu of TV shows at night.  In any case, from my personal experience, it's actually hard work, which is another reason why I don't do it consistently, aka wannabe.

And we spend a lot of time creating literally thousands of posts on these forums.  I guess we could be accused of being obsessed too.  😀

The more things change, the more they stay the same.

Before electronics came along, parents ignored their children by giving them table games or coloring books at restaurants. Now, we give them electronics.

So you think that when someone uses 'people' they mean every single person?  OK, but that's a little weird.  Or pedantic.

No, I didn't think that and it was not intended as a correction but rather an extension of  your comment.   Hopefully others read it as intended, meaning some folks have a need to complain about everything.  So anyway, I'm probably a little weird at times, but calling me pedantic is a little off base.
