Can anyone tell me what the process is for moving cabins when doing a back to back.  We are considering adding a week before our Alaska cruise and can only get an inside cabin for that date. We Are booked in a mini suite for the current ( would be second sailing).  Just need to know how the medallion would work and do they move our luggage for us and the process.  Thank you!

@tourismtessy  Sorry! Couldn't resist.  Your steward should help you to move your stuff...you shouldn't have to repack anything.  Leave your stuff hanging on hangers...they will bring a rolling cart to move those.  You might want to do the things in drawers yourself...

You use the same Medallion for both segments; it will not be swapped out.  Cabin stewards will offer to move your stuff, but you're welcome to do it yourself.  You can leave everything on hangers, but they request that small stuff be packed into your suitcase.  They will use a bell cart to transport your stuff.  Talk to Guest Services before turnaround day and have them message your new cabin steward to prioritize readying the mini suite so that you can vacate the interior ASAP.  Not sure about your itinerary, but if doing a Northbound/Southbound embarking in Vancouver and transiting in Whittier, you won't have go through immigration in Whittier as the ship will not have stopped in a foreign port.

Actually, the Stewards work for Housekeeping.

Anyway, I prefer to go to the new cabin close to the turnover day and meet our new Steward and let him/her know we are moving from cabin XXX and would appreciate an early prep if possible - or that we can at least drop bags and safe contents.

As of late, the extension given for Housekeeping goes directly to your room steward during their working hours.  Only at night is it answered by a dispatcher.  I've had better luck going to Guest Services and having the message trickle down to the new cabin steward.  Never thought of going to meet the new person early.

Yes... that is true.  We used to be able to call Hskpg but it does go to current Steward if in cabin.  You could call Hskpg from a passageway phone as well.  But I get you there.  I might be concerned msg gets to new person.  I know of many people who tfr cabins this way and I did as well once and was perfect.

We are on a B2B now on the Grand Princess and start the 2nd part tomorrow in Whittier.  We received printed instructions on what to do 2 nights before the end of the cruise (the In Transit cards were also included). Also had a small get together this evening to go over the process and go over the new package changes that are effective Aug. 19 on the Grand.

They will make your existing Medallion able to open your new cabin door on morning of turnover.  As others have mentioned,  a steward or supervisor will come by to move you that morning. Leave clothes on hangers and pack loose items from drawers and toiletries.

The Medallion will not switch to the new cabin until close to the time the ship is ready for new passengers. If you need access to both cabins before that time in order to move stuff, they can give you a cruise card that will work with the new cabin that morning.

You will need to pack all of what you have in the bathroom and what you have in drawers and on shelves. Besides the luggage, they only move what is hanging in the closet and what is on the floor of the closet.

You do not have to stay on board that day unless you want to. You can leave this ship anytime once disembarkation has started and return after embarkation of new passengers has started.

They can program a Medallion to access multiple cabins.  We have had this happen in relation to a cabin move.

They can, but in our case they gave us a cruise card that was only active on turnaround day.
