Fooblade Posted June 9, 2004 #1 Share Posted June 9, 2004 I just want to know what activities people feel are a must do. Are the comedy shows the same throughout the cruise? Is Bingo worth the time? BigDoug Posted June 9, 2004 #2 Share Posted June 9, 2004 Each night, they will have a differnet show for you. On a 7 night cruise, there will be 2 Vegas style shows and the rest of the cruise will be various entertainers - singers. comedians, hypnotists, etc. Also, there will be a guest talent show. Usually, the comedians have an R rated show at midnight. Bingo is usually held right after dinner before the shows and sometimes in the afternoons while at sea. Not my cup of tea, but they are pretty well attended. On your first cruise, don't miss the galley tour. Also, go to the tour/shopping talks. For most seasoned cruisers, they are a waste of time but a first timer can learn a lot from these talks. Also, the debarkation/customs talk. If you don't attend, make sure you watch it on the tv. jfritz126 Posted June 9, 2004 #3 Share Posted June 9, 2004 Since you are sailing on the Miracle I must tell you to NOT miss the Lounge Crawl. It is just so much fun. And the deck parties were alot of fun too!!! Actually anything any of the 4 CD's were involved in was funny. They really make the cruise!!! Did you get the capers? NinaCO Posted June 9, 2004 #4 Share Posted June 9, 2004 The Not So Newlywed game is a blast to watch! It's always funny, and I never miss it. The horseracing is fun too! Towards the beginning of the cruise, there's an auction for horses. If you win the horse, it's yours for the duration of the cruise. Lots of people dress and decorate their horses and carry them around (some wear formal attire to dinner). It's a fun activity, and you can win money, but don't count on it. (If you want details on the races, feel free to email me hello@ninaco.com.) Don't worry about the "talks" given by the cruise director. When he talks about ports, it's mainly to sell tours. When he talks about shopping, it's always to push the "recommended" stores. If I'm not doing anything and want to get out of the sun, I attend. But the talks are replayed on the TV in the cabin, so I usually just watch when I'm getting dressed for dinner. As a first-time cruiser, you will definitely want to watch the debarkation talk. But, it will be replayed throughout the day on your TV. I usually watch it while I pack. The comedians are usually quite good. And, if you don't mind raunchy humor, the late night shows are very funny. I'm never thrilled with the Vegas-style shows. But, that's my taste. Many people love them, and you may too! Bingo is held throughout the cruise. They tend to slide at least one game in before or after the CD's "talks." I've never won, but when I play I enjoy it. I hope you have a wonderful cruise on Miracle! Sleazy 3 on Conquest in Just: [This message was edited by NinaCO on 06-09-04 at 04:27 PM.]

Fooblade Posted June 9, 2004 Author #7 Share Posted June 9, 2004 How does Bingo work- Is it one $1000 winner or does every game played pay out $1000? Carnival Miracle A minute from now still isnt soon enough!!!!!
jfritz126 Posted June 9, 2004 #8 Share Posted June 9, 2004 They play lots of games through the week and they all pay different. The capers tells you what they are going to pay. NinaCO Posted June 9, 2004 #9 Share Posted June 9, 2004 The jackpots for the bingo games tend to get bigger as the cruise progresses. It can get crowded too, so it doesn't hurt to get there a few minutes early. Sleazy 3 on Conquest in Just:

Cotton Posted June 9, 2004 #11 Share Posted June 9, 2004 Your first cruise! What an adventure you're about to embark on! There's SO much to do on a cruise. The best advice I will give you is to take a highlighter pen. A copy of the Capers will be put in your cabin every evening while you are at dinner. Highlight all the activities you want to do the next day. You don't want to miss out on something that might really interest you! If you find little irritants, shake 'em off. You're on a cruise, and there's no better vacation! Oh yeah, about the shows...I LOVE the two production shows they have. One is always VERY "Vegasy", and the other is just as good but little lower key. Don't miss either. I'm not a fan of the other night's shows, but that's just me. "Laissez les bon temps rouler!" pungo3 Posted June 10, 2004 #13 Share Posted June 10, 2004 I'd also recommend taking a pad of "sticky" notes. They are great for leaving notes for your cabin steward or for others traveling with you. Cotton Posted June 10, 2004 #14 Share Posted June 10, 2004 Hmmm, let's see. I take quite a few Ziplok bags of all sizes- freezer strength. It's amazing how handy they can be. The 2-gal. can hold a wet bathing suit or towel, or dirty clothes. The other sizes all come in handy at various times. Y'know, maybe you have a leftover cookie/brownie, whatever from room service. OR if you want to take a snack into port? Put seashells you find in them. Etc. I find them invaluable when traveling, cruise or land. "Laissez les bon temps rouler!" CruiseFever Posted June 10, 2004 #16 Share Posted June 10, 2004 Don't try to do everything. You'll need a vacation when you get back home to rest up from your cruise. The above specific recommendations are great choices for any cruise. I think you'll want to sample some of everything the ship has to offer. As noted above, a highligher can help you pick out the things that interest you and plan your day around them. A good idea would be to find someone on here who has posted a copy of the Carnival Capers, the daily shipboard newsletter, from your ship. They really don't change much from sailing to sailing so you'll be able to get a good idea of what events are offered when and where. Since this is your first cruise, I'd suggest doing some heavy research right here on the Cruise Critic board on each event that interests you and maybe some that don't. For example, you asked some great questions about Bingo. Reading about these topics here enough, to me, makes it almost like you've sailed on the ship before by the time you get there. In addition I'd suggest studying the deck plans for your ship, namely the public area decks. The Miracle is easy to find your way around in if you spend a little time on line familiarizing yourself with where things are in relation to your cabin or an elevator close to your cabin. Make that the point of reference or beginning point for venturing out into the ship, you'll get to know your way around in no time. ....and be sure to report back in when you get back. Let us know how it went ok? KellyJean Posted June 10, 2004 #18 Share Posted June 10, 2004 Don't miss being out on deck to watch the ship pull out of port. Make it a point to get up early just one morning and watch the sunrise up on deck. I was advised to do this on my first cruise and did it the first morning after we sailed. It was extremely windy but worth every minute. serene56 Posted June 10, 2004 #22 Share Posted June 10, 2004 I liked going to "tea" held in a lounge on a sea day about 3:30 (check your capers) its a very relaxing time for family and friends to get together (other then dinner) and just to be able to chat and catch up with daily things. I took my three boys and my mom and its a time we will all remember. (what to take-- a thermal coffee mug--those little ones the ships provide arent big enough to give caffene to a flea.
