Creaking noises on Celebrity Beyond

A couple of other cruise lines you might consider are Oceania and Viking. The food is usually extremely good, and every specialty restaurant is included. Wine and beer at meals are included, then cocktail packages or a la carte drinks are rather reasonable.

We usually cruise on Viking, which is quite laid back, but they have some great itineraries and staterooms. We were trying Beyond for the large ship experience and entertainment, plus the Retreat amenities. Sounds like they will be disappointing, as Viking’s service is usually stellar, and crew remember your names just a couple days into a cruise. So, I guess we’ll find out how the Beyond stacks up in 3 months. 🤷‍♀️

No issues with the crew onboard. With few exceptions we have always found them to be delightful. It's the accountants and bean counters in Miami who may or may not have cruised before that trash the onboard experience.

I'm not going to sugar coat anything as we sail multiple lines and are cheerleaders of none. But Celebrity have gone too far with the cutbacks. Newbies will know no better, but those who've sailed with them for years will notice the obvious and less obvious changes they have implemented.

Last nights Luminae menu was really quite disappointing. You can see that they're focussed on less costly ingredients. The deserts in Luminae are good though. But foodies will likely be disappointed with the overall experience.

Oceania is a line we are familiar with so will be looking there. We had a look at the cost per person per night in a sky suite which is our usual cabin of choice and at £450 to £600 you certainly have a lot of options with other lines with some more upscale lines coming out considerably less! And they have more inclusions such as gratuities, OBC, specialty dining and in some instances, shore excursions!

So as an RCL stockholder we're happy to see the share price increase, but as X passengers we've lost interest with booking again. But you can't have it both ways! 🙂

If X keep filling their cabins at current pricing then fair play to them. Well done! But as someone who books vacations based on value as opposed to price, they're just no longer for us.

We had creaking and popping in our cabins on deck 9 and deck 11 on Ascent last month. Booked Apex for later this year - is anyone aware of similar issues, or have complaints been isolated to Beyond and Ascent? Fingers crossed...

We had no noise issues onboard either of our Apex sailings.

I've only ever seen one post on Facebook claiming that Apex suffers the same issues as the two newer ships and I wasn't really convinced by that at all.

Have been on Apex twice and no noise issues for us or for anyone that we met onboard.

Currently onboard, and agree with @Moby Jones’s review about the overall quality. Our sunset Sky suite on Deck 9 has mercifully been very quiet. I am very much enjoying this cruise, but have the same observations about the cutbacks. Plus, they have once again removed the 4-oz filet from the Luminae menu, event though it was available on Ascent last month.

Good morning !

What kind of ear plugs are people wearing ?
Recommendations ?

Specific brands for comfort ? Lol

thanks  😜

I just bought basic ones from Amazon that are for concerts and sleep.. but Jim Iain and others have mentioned other ideas, including custom fit!

Also some mention noise cancelling headphones ,   sound machines.    Guess there are many options.

Maybe try CC  search feature

We had 2 very noisy weeks on the Ascent B2B, Madien Voyage in a Sky Suite. The Retreat Concierge had ear plus avaliable, we wore those along with white noise from our phones, husbands Cpap machine noise and a pillow over our ear while lying on our side. The team from the ship yard in France was on the first week, fixed the noise from one part of the room.  Unfortunately, they flew back to France and thd other side started up and was worse.  The Ascent engineers spent over 4 hours and couldn't fix it. We had the same problem on the Beyond.

Never had this problem on many cruises on both the Edge and Apex (or did we hear about any).  We will not book either the Beyond or Ascent again unless they fix these rooms suits.  Although some report not hearing anything (which is good) it is not fair to the guests that unknowingly will get the problem rooms.

Seems to me the issues are with the E Class ships that have been lengthened and widened (Beyond, Ascent). We didn't experience any noises while on the Edge. Haven't heard of these issues on Edge or Apex but maybe someone else who might have can chime in.

Can I ask what your room number is? We will be in Sunset Sky suit 9232 in May. Hoping for a quiet room. Thanks very much.

Wonder if you ask if they will have it, as wasn't it a kids menu option?

@JDPCruisersi did ask, and the server said it is not available on this ship. They still HAVE the kids’ menu, but no 4-oz filet. Still available on the Ascent, though. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Yes, odd. Go figure, ship by ship I guess. We'll see on Beyond in April.

Just got off Beyond Jan 19, we were in a deck 7 midship IV cabin and the noises were as described in other posts above, even in some calmer waters. Some of the banging noises woke us up at night.

We were in 7161 on Beyond last year.  Loud bangs throughout the day and night.  I had ear plugs and a white noise machine and just tried my best to ignore it.  But it was enough of a problem for me (light sleeper) that I decided never to sail on Beyond or the later ships.  I have sailed Edge and Apex with no problem…but maybe I was just lucky then…

Bummer but thanks for the reply.  I won't let it ruin my cruise at all.  However, I am ordering earplugs now.

It was more of an issue for me, probably, because I spend a lot of time in the cabin.  Journaling, looking out at the sea, napping…. If you were just sleeping in the cabin and either a sound sleeper or have ear plugs or a white noise machine (I had both) then you’ll probably be fine.  And maybe X has done some fixes!  And Beyond is a stunningly beautiful ship.

Thanks for the added info.  I saw you mentioned last year so I was hoping for the same.  My sleep patterns will correlate directly to the damage I do to the drink package, how late we stay in the casino, or late-night events.

We do not plan to return to BEYOND,  although we did not have noise issues in our Sky Suite. We did have a pushy butler but guess that  changed after we cruised..

ASCENT in AQ class was amazing!  Hope  the banging noise issues do not develop on her.

In 2022 we had SS 9178 on Beyond and had no issues with noise, only a complete and utter lack of airflow when the balcony was open.

We are about to go on Beyond again in 9201.  Hoping no noise this time around.🤞

Glad to hear that. We will be in a SS on the port side on April 12. In 9173, so it was in a similar area to yours from 2022. Even though the problems seem mostly to be in IV cabins, we’ve heard of several instances with Sky Suite noise as well. But fingers crossed, and we’ll bring earplugs!
