Fresh off the Venezia: The Good, The Bad, The NYC

What KaiBlue said! I’ll be going on Venezia for 3rd time on 5/6. 4th booked for May, 2025 so I have no desire to shop lol. They do have the Groove for St. Jude new blue t shirts usually first sea day going home. $12 for a very good cause! I had YTD in Gondola restaurant. Galley is in mid of ship. My advice-go all the way to aft elevators then up or down to the MDR. Chocolate extravaganza last sea day-get there early or plan to stand on a long line! (I don’t lol)

We're thinking of doing the Carnival Venezia next year. A few questions if you or whoever might see this, would answer.

Do they still have the $10 or $15 sale at least one day of the cruise?

Do they have a special "chocolate" night?

Do they still have formal nights, or maybe they call them dress to impress now?

Is there a deck that goes directly from the front of the ship to the back of the ship?

KaiBlue and Cousin Karen, thank you for your replies to some of my questions. I have made some notations, as that will really help. Cousin Karen, it looks like you really LIKE the Venezia ship. 🙂

Lol yes I like the ship but I DO have an ulterior motive. I live about 20-30 minutes, depending on traffic lol from port of Manhattan. I’m right over the GW Bridge in NE NJ. I have been cruising solo since my husband passed and it’s just much easier as well as much cheaper to cruise from here. You will enjoy the Venezia. It’s a very pretty ship and unlike some CCL ships it’s a bit more “refined/elegant.” Wonderful crew too! Enjoy your research!

1. Yes.

2. Chocolate buffet in Lido Marketplace on final day.

3. Yes. They call it elegant night. We had two on the 11day run. We saw everything from tuxedos and evening gowns to shirts and tank tops.

4. All decks except Deck 3 since the galley is located midship on Deck 3. Deck 5 has an outdoor promenade that allows you to make it 75% of the way around that deck. The private Terraza balconies prohibit you from making the complete circle.

CousinKaren, I understand WHY you like this ship in more ways than one. 🙂 You mentioned of cruising on your own, and in my over 15 cruises I have been BLESSED to do, I have met women of different ages, cruising by themselves. I think it is wonderful, but for me, I don't have to have someone at my beck and call all day/night long, but it is nice to have someone to chat with (or zip my dress, etc.) when in need.

Have cruised with a TON of family and friends over the years. Some days enjoyable, some days “why did I ask them to join us?!? Never again” lol. But I miss my Jim. My first solo cruise was right after he passed. His sister was coming with me. 2 days before the cruise she got sick and couldn’t come. So I was “FORCED” to cruise alone. Ended up being a God send because I doubt I could/would have booked a cruise alone and I realized it’s never going to be perfect again without my Jim, but it’s still a cruise which I love so much. So gave me the “courage” to book another and another lol! Sometimes I’m very sad, but mostly grateful and thankful! Sorry for the long story!  Happy cruising! 👍👏

@beshears I did 13 days B2B last Sept on Venezia out of NYC in an aft wrap Terrazza balcony and enjoyed most of it. However, a deal breaker for me, which will keep me from booking the Venezia again until it's resolved, is the VERY smokey casino. We were on 7 - the poor cabin steward was having a real hard time breathing due to the smoke. We kept looking for someone smoking in the halls, but it was the casino smoke. Crew told us the HVAC just couldn't keep up.

Favorite part of the ship (I have 2 cuz they're tied) is Terrazza area on 5 and the windows being functional on Lido deck 10. Favorite place to eat is Teppanyaki. Best tip - go to Teppanyaki for lunch - same menu & portions as dinner but less expensive.

Safe travels - enjoy your cruise!

Hello Haljo 1935 slightly off the main topic Does the Venezia have ice buckets in the rooms now ?

When we sailed on her last year (1st 8 day cruise to caribbean) they had NO Ice buckets and our room steward said they were unavailable. We are sailing on her in Aug of this year and i'll bring one if necessary

Some cabins had ice buckets and some did not. We took a folding ice bag & had no issues w/cabin steward keeping it full. It folds flat, so easy packing.

What time does the chocolate extraordinarily start on the final day? Thank you in advance.

Thank you to each of you who just posted recently. I had some issues here on the home front that had to be taken care of, and I haven't been able to read any of the postings until now. 🙂
