hey I resemble that comment 😂😂 I have one of the bears!  Now he is sitting on a shelf in the closet but I do own one.

never found a duck on the sky. But then again I forgot to look for one.

Our cabin steward gave me one of the big Stanley Bears (and a tee shirt that said "Cruising Is Back")  and on another ship the girl in the shop let me pick a smaller bear for free!  They both sit on a chair in our bedroom much to my DH's dismay!  LOL
I got lucky!

Currently on Crown Princess and heading for Hawaii.  CD Jody is hiding her custom painted white Duckies.  And on previous Jan. 7th Crown Princess Hawaii cruise, Future Cruise Director Beaulah, displayed her Duckies.

I guess the crew does like them after all.

Oh wow! You're seeing cruising ducks everywhere!  Thanks for posting this ... utterly cute and it made me smile (as the ducks always do).  👍

I am usually a 'girl who wants to have fun'...

But...  ducks????

On this I am a 'curmudgeon'...    Sorry....

I see this like any other thing when there are those who think they can make their own use of a general public space.

I guess I don't really care about your duck, what it looks like, where you are from, etc...

I guess people just think they have to 'leave their mark'.

My motto is Leave No Trace.

If a cruise line wanted to organize hide-and-seek events on certain days...  go for it!!!

But, I see this differently.

Between this and the Sanctuary rants, you need a cruise stat! Hang in there.

The hide-always are all in good fun. If you hate ducks or whatever wee item is stashed, just keep walking when you see them. The plastics give us pause but we don’t duck shame since the intent is positive and they are few and far between.

The best thing about cruising is that your cruise experience is yours alone and the less you worry about what others are getting or doing, the more fun you will have. Everyone has their “thing” on a cruise and some just want to bring joy to those who like to spy and capture or re-stash tiny, hidden creatures.

Yeesh. I think the ducks are silly, too, but people enjoy them. With the world the way it is, can we let people enjoy things? My mom always talked about "Little Treasures"...little things that seemed insignificant or downright silly to some, but for her, right at that moment, either distracted her from her troubles or made her happy.

Let people have their Little Treasures. You never know what kind of day someone is having or how badly they might need a tiny, duck-shaped, sliver of joy and connection right in that moment. That's why I'll leave any ducks I find right where they are...it doesn't bring me joy, so I'll leave it for the person it's meant to find.

We do not participate in the duck thing and neither hide them, nor seek them out.  Of course,  some are "hidden" in obvious places.  We've been on cruise lines in the past year and I don't recall which ship we were on at the time,  but my husband  found one sitting in an elevator that had a card attached from a couple looking for others with whom to swing/swap.  Gross!

One aspect of the duck thing that I don't like is those tiny ducks that people are now scattering around the ship.  They may be cute,  but unfortunately  they can also be a choking hazard for younger kids.

When I saw the pix of the latest tiny ones, I thought "Yep, it's all fun and games until somebody's precious,  darling,  perfectly behaved kid finds one and chokes on it" .

At which point the cruise line will get sued, and then they will be banned.

Basically they could be sued for anything the kid gets his hands on & chokes. Even a medallion.

Okay, here I go again.  If you don’t like the ducks, walk away.  There are many people and kids that get joy of finding a personal message from someone from the ship.  For me and my husband, this is my Mom’s first and last cruise. And I have bought the ducks with a small sticker on the back to memorize her on the little passport that was included. I hope if you find one on our 3/31/2024 short CA cruise I hope you will understand what is important to my Mom and to our family. This was her wish.

I wish the best for everyone.  Love and peace!

The Sawyers

Fourteenth day of our Hawaii Crown cruise and here is wife's finds.  Two from Cruise Director Jody's Custom Painted Cruising Ducks and a red M&M figure.  Wife was thrilled.

I've asked a few crew members if they were having stuck plumbing drains around the ship by cruising  ducks and their answer was a big fat NO .   They will collect them for their self before they get near any water.

FYI,  had lunch with Hotel Service Engineer Officer Ewen, who's in charge of everything related to water and has 6 plumbers on his staff.  He's NOT have any problems with cruising ducks, PERIOD. When ducks are found, they are grabbed up by crew members collecting them.

I think that's the very definition of a "public space". So long as you abstain from doing anything which would frighten the horses....

Spotted on the last Wake Show was CD JODY wearing a Cruise Ducky earring.  Then on the internet, you can find many sites selling Tags to attach to your hiding ducks..  Catching on.....

Well sounds like the Paper Airplane and Egg Drop Contest need to go too because there is the potential for an eye getting put out or a slip and fall.   Danger is everywhere according to some.

A cruise ship is going to have any number of things that would present a choking hazard.

Just found this walking through the Crown Princess Casino.  In their Casino Arcade, there is a Duck Catcher Crane machine.  Cruising Ducks are here too.  If you don't find one, you can play for one.
